So I'm thinking about using the tax dollars I got back and getting myself a Cintiq 13HD.

Seems to be good for me. From what I understand, you just plug it to your PC/Mac and you can use it as a second screen and be able to draw on it. Seems to be more versatile than most other tablets because I can draw right on it which would be nice for when I do some animating. Just curious if anybody has any experience with this type of product. It's a whole grand so I'm obviously just a bit reluctant to just buy without knowing just a little more.

Wonderful product that I wish I had extra funds laying around for.

One con is there's a slight delay when using it. I'd say it's between a half second to 3/4's of a second of a delay. Not that you're looking for video game input delay but it's there.

I use a combination of a standard tablet, $40 from Monoprice, and a mouse, when editing photos.

Thanks. I'll be using mostly for animation myself. I need something new as my current workspace isn't as desirable these days so a cintiq tablet like this would be very helpful and is a cheaper solution to just buying a whole cintiq computer.

As someone who uses Wacom tablets a lot, I've looked at these quite a bit. Never had a chance to use one though.

My biggest concern would be comfort. I can put my 6x8 tablet in my lap in any position since I am not looking at it. With the Cintiqs, you have to look at that screen since that is the whole point. So, you have to put it in a place where you can not only see it, but can put your arm in a comfortable position. Then there is the issue of how well you can see what's on the screen without having to bend over and squint.

I'd love to try one. I'm just hesitant since they aren't cheap, and I don't know how well I would like it. Drawing on a screen is probably more natural than a standard tablet. I mean, that is how you usually draw in real life. You look at your hand. With a tablet, you look at the screen and move your hand out of sight. I wonder if it will feel different using a Cintiq.

I'll probably get one eventually, but who knows.

Its definitely more natural as its one to one. But its too expensive, even more so with the price in Europe. If its US1,000, I may have already bought it. But its closer to US1,5k here.

By the way Sharkboy, what type of animation are you doing? You have some work to share with us, on youtube or something?

I am looking at some artist for slide show style (like the ones in infamous, WItcher 2) animation. If you know someone, freelance?
