This is generally how I am anyway. I don't like having too much of a backlog. At launch though I'll have probably 2 retail games and 2 non retail games (KI and CD). From that point on though it'll usually be 1 game at a time or two at most.

I play a lot of shooters and sports titles so I tend not to focus on just the one game. However, when I do buy an RPG or something I tend to play it until I beat it.

I'll tell you I will right now but a year down the line I will be in the same predicament I found myself in at the start of the current generation. This was the first Generation I could afford to buy my own games, I'm 26. Prior to this generation I could name you all of the games I owned on all the consoles I've owned: Sonic and Eco the Dolphin (Sega Megadrive), Star Fox, Zombies, Mario and Fifa 95 with Janco Toni and Paulo Baretta leading the line for Brazil (Nintendo Snes), Virtual Tennis and Track and Field (Dreamcast), Mario kart 64, 007 and a load of THQ wrestling games both WWF and WCW (Nintendo 64) I've owned all these consoles but was either too young or didn't care too much rather be out playing football with friends then gaming so I literally only owned the games above on 'said' consoles all presents from parents, grandparents ext.

This generation was the same old story, far too many games not enough time.

Only console I didn't own in you could say 'my generation' was the OG Xbox. Just didn't need it.

Nope, I will have games like DR3 for solo play, and games like BF4 for Multiplayer and then more sporty games like FIFA and Forza for a bit of both.

I am getting 10 launch games! Lol

No chance. I'll be getting Ryse, Forza 5 and Powershots Golf for sure day 1. KI is up there too, but I may try to just play the free version for a while, since I'll have so many other games. I'm also going to pick up DR3 for Xmas, if not before.

Console launches are expensive endevours. Really wish they didn't always do them at Christmas.

Ryse and DR3 at launch on the One

Killzone, NFS Rivals, and FIFA at launch on the PS4

Willpower for the loss.

I'm going to try. I have too many games still in their cellophane that I have to get to this generation. I will eventually, but I would really like to tame that issue in the coming generation.

For me, 2 games at the most just like for current Gen. Too little time for anymore than that. I'thinking bf4 and the new trials whenever it comes out.

Well, good thing is that you'll be able to get a game, and then be able to play Killer Instinct and other demos. You'll be able to have some variety from the get go.

I am getting ryse for single player and gonna get bf4 for mp!
I know this is 2 titles but I need me some online mp action lol
Also me and my son are getting an xb1 each on launch day so need to have a game each :)
I am getting excited now!!!

Depends on the game. When the next Fallout title is released I'm sure to play that and only that until I at least finish a good and bad play-through.

Otherwise I'll do as I'm doing now. BF4 (or equivalent) for my online MP fix, an action/adventure game like Batman/Darksiders for my adventuring and a third title for something more mindless and fun.

I am actually picking up four games and my logic is this:

FIFA 14 - Free with Day One as I'm in the UK and I LOVE FIFA as it's easy to pick up have a game and put it back down.
BF4 - This is mainly for online play with a few of my mates who are also buying it, plus the online looks sick!
DR3 - I love Zombies and I love an open world with Zombies more than that so couldn't pass this game up, I predict my solo free time will be spent mainly on this, I also played and enjoyed both Dead Island games and an a sucker for coop!!
RYSE - The story and graphics have totally sucked me in, I recently added this to my Day One purchase and I think this will be short enough to really enjoy and beat around the other games if I want a break.

The one game at a time plan sounds great, but bang right out of the gate you see a buy 2 get one 1 at Target deal and that goes out the window. I expect black Friday to have some deals that will end up with myself buying multiple games. I am with you on the backlog though. I have spent the last 4-5 months just hammering away at mine.

I was just thinking about this. I want Forza 5 for sure, and have COD ordered. I want to get BF4 as well, but Forza alone will take a lot of my gaming time up. I definitely want Forza and some sort of shooter, but anything more than that at once may be too much. I wish I had time for more.

That would be smart, but I'm getting like 6 to 8 titles between the two systems.

All 3 full retail games I'm getting next Friday are first person shooters (BF4, COD, Killzone).

Also will be getting Resogun on PS4, and maybe other some F2P games (DCUO, Contrast, etc). DR3 the following week on X1, and maybe the golf game and/or Killer Instinct (or Ryse or Forza, depending on reviews).

Nothing like starting a generation off with a huge backlog! ;)

I usually only play one type of game at a time. Usually always have a racing game and then maybe an online shooter to play with friends once in a while, but then I have a main game that I'm playing for the story.
