Why wear it in the car though?
I thought the SAME exact way a week back. Why wear it in the car? I would make fun of people for doing it. That was until I went to get some take-out food, and then had to run into CVS. I kept it on for the drive. No reason to take it off and put it back on.

For the pic.

And he says he's next stop was just around the block.

But then he should be keeping it on because he risks contamination if he keeps removing it
Yeah you don't want to keep pulling it off and on unless you've sanitized your hands each time, you run the risk of touching your face as well. Whenever I leave the house I take one of my bottles of hand sanitizer with me and every time I open the door to get back in the truck I grab the sanitizer bottle and first I put sanitizer on my hands, then some extra on the bottle since I touched it and then more on my hands lol. Then I take the mask off by using the straps behind the ears instead of just tugging it from the front.

With all the conspiracy theories flying around I’ve noticed so many people in my area trying to act like these theories are now fact and shouldn’t take this whole situation and virus serious anymore scares me. So many people just believe whatever they want nowadays and don’t want to listen to anyone.

This has been the goal of the alt right for almost a decade now, maybe more. Flood the country with misinformation until we're at the point we are now where it is almost impossible to keep track of all the lies. Their goal is to sell the narrative that "facts are hard". Modern politics isn't really politics at all, but selling a narrative and arguing over what is fact.

Eric Trump is back saying this is all a hoax again. I mean really? They don't even care that they contradict fact, they just want to make the waters more and more muddy.

I have family members and friends now acting like this is all not even real anymore just a made up thing to get people under control. Anytime they see a doctor or nurse give advice or first hand experience oh they must have an agenda or what is their politics or they are making this up. People just amazes me know how they act and what they believe. It’s like we’re all living in a fantasy now this is not the world I grew up in.

This is what the alt right has designed. Everything is contentious. Everything is a fight. Everything is a binary decision.

Trump said right out that his Presidency is a reality show where he fights the "bad guys" every day. This keeps people distracted and so distrustful.

I had a horrible conversation with my dad where he was going off about how "doctors don't know if this social distancing and masks work!!!". I'm all, "yes they do, because science says it does". My dad is college educated and is smart enough to know better.

He's the perfect example of what they've done - find an army of white people who are angry and have found the best way to keep them angry and loyal is to point that anger at a specific target.

You've probably already approached it this way but try talking through it with more logic or "feelings' rather than just giving science all the credit, some people are more willing to accept things that way.

I'd just sort of agree that doctors aren't perfect but I'd hope that he'd admit that even if the doctors don't know for sure they can make educated guesses based on past events because it's their job to stay up to date on this information, it's all some of these doctors do. Also make sure he knows the masks are to help stop people who don't know they have the virus from spreading it, they aren't meant to stop us from getting it and that the social distancing is just to help keep us far enough away that the spittle from people talking can't reach us or even worse a cough or sneeze.

The mask combined with the distancing could help keep someone who has it from giving it to others. I'd also appeal to him as a good person and just ask why wearing a mask is such a big sacrifice if it could help protect your family, friends and neighbors? Does he want to get someone sick? does he think someone who loves him wants to inadvertently get him sick?

I don't know your Dad but my Mom's partner of 40 years who died a couple of years ago was one of these types of people, he couldn't take anyone "telling him what to do" especially if it was a Democrat lol. When I'd break things down to him that way, he'd actually listen. If I got heated in response to his aggression it ruined any hope of a real conversation, he was the type that would start yelling and cussing right away if you didn't agree with him immediately so he wasn't always the easiest person to talk to but when I could get him to listen generally he'd come around.

Has anyone here successfully applied for unemployment or known an acquaintance who has received benefits?

I still have a job, but just received a fleet wide text message that says the company is looking for extra revenue to avoid bankruptcy.

I've been close to fulfilling a plan of getting a home daily job with more home time and about to sign an apartment lease this Friday when I get this message. I'm wondering if I can count on unemployment benefits if I lose my job. I could just stay at my parents' place I guess but that sh;t is getting old and I was so close to getting a great apartment before this Covid19 s***.

I also find it hilarious how my parents talk about getting through the Recession in the 70s. This thing we're in now is catastrophic compared to a Recession.

Anyway, I might move forward with the apartment if I think I can collect unemployment if my company goes under or I get laid off.

dono what the process is like there, I’m in Cali and was told by my job/company, via txt as well, to file for unemployment. It was pretty easy, did everything online, getting a hella small fraction but luckily I have savings I was hopping I’d wouldn’t have to touch for decades but I’ll be ok. Oh and what ever it you get from them you’ll get an additional 600 per week, which you’ll have the option to have them tax it or tax it later when you file taxes next year. And you may want to look into the adp app for any other info that you may not have on hand when filling out your quarterly earnings.

This must be a nightmare for people with ocd
Nah, us OCD folks have been dealing with this in our heads for so long it's not even funny. I feel bad for all you noobs.

Very important to remember, you will NOT die from a panic attack. Tomorrow will be better.
