Ars Technica compares Xbox One and PS4 Specs

Well news flash COD on PS4 has both bases covered...its 1080p and runs on dedicated servers...

3rd party games have been king and the PS4 thus far is offering the best versions so the software base is covered as well.
Resolution wont matter ( let it be) . Believe me when I tell you that no one will care about the rez of any game mate. We all know not one game will look terrible. And it will be a cold day in hell before Sony out does Microsoft in the software department.

Wait...did you say 3rd party games have been king on the Ps4?o_O How so? Both versions on both platforms look great!

yeah cause that's a worth mentioning one....
Ahh the internet blew up over that design. So much in fact Sony scrapped the idea. Worth a mention at least if not an entire chapter.

Not even worth a mention sorry.

The people you think won't care about the resolution are the ones who WILL care about the $500 price.

You're not looking at this realistically Vall, seriously mate. There's simply no way people will prefer to pay 400$ just to get a few extra pixels. Software, features and online will ultimately decide who holds the keys to heaven so to speak, next gen.

but are the same people that didn't care about the $600 tag of ps3 and didn't care the better version was on the 360?

Yeah I can see the price difference turned into more of a value if MS keeps marketing the convenience of kinetic alone. Skype, code redeeming, voice controlled multitasking...

Are you guys deliberately trying to disappoint yourselves in regards to pre-price cut sales?

Not to mention for fps, The Xbox controller has no peer. I notice every time someone brings up a good point about xbox this same dude always comes out of nowhere and has to make some positive point about the ps4. Sounds like he has some kind of insecurity issue.

It will probably sell out, due to a combination of launch demand and limited supply. But I also think PS4 will sell a lot more - greater demand, more supply, and launching in more countries.

Hopefully MS gets in a price cut to regain sales momentum post-launch.

Consider how Microsoft is marketing the Xbox One. Its marketed as a console for everyone not just gamers. The Kinect and utilization of it is going to be a game changer next generation because it works the way its supposed to and it shows in real time, the features AND benefits of having that in place. Skype is also another feature many can associate with. Marketing is all about finding the pulse of the consumer--what people like and what's trending. The Xbox One has nearly every popular feature and app built in from the gate. You bring all of these popular features together in one box, plus make them user friendly and you've got a recipe for success. Thats a pulse that not only includes gamers, but non gamers to boot. NFL is also going to make a big splash next generation too. There are so many sports fans out there into the fantasy leagues its unreal. The Xbox One is set to hit so many levels of potential profit avenues its not even funny mate.

Sony will cater to the pure gamers and do quite well at doing just that. But unless they broaden their horizons they'll fall behind (its already begun in many ways but can be remedied in time) s*** is about to get real here, very soon.

I think right before March, you're going to see the One jump ahead by a significant amount in the UK and US. Be it word of mouth, hands on, or a certain game.

Hard to do when your best internal studio is named Black Tusk and hasn't finished a game yet.

Fixed that for ya.

I'm not the only one who said it before, but if a person/family can afford a $400 system, they can afford a $500 one. I don't think price is a huge issue for the vast majority of people looking at the 2 systems.

And I wonder if the PS4's biggest problem for the next couple of years will be the PS3. It took a long time to start selling really well, and a lot of PS3s have been sold in the last 2-3 years alone. So will those millions of people be ready to drop more money on another new system already? More people have had a 360 for a longer period of time, so I'm curious how this will play out.

I still think both companies will do well for the whole generation (except maybe the Wii U...?), with Sony probably selling more systems for the first ~1 year or so. But at 2 years and beyond I think MS will be outselling them easily, unless Sony comes up with something big....like maybe if their supposed VR headset is amazing.
