I know the site has a Teamxbox refugee moniker. I also understand, as such, more of the focus will likely be on the Xbox. I was staff at PSU.com for over 6 yrs. We were the opposite. Primarily PS centric, but we had forums for Xbox and other gaming plats (PC, handheld, cellular, etc...) Part of my goal, my vision, was to provide a home for everyone who wants to post. Free from trolling, free from fanboy turds who wanted to only spread FUD and suppress info. I did pretty well for many years. Now, my former site is becoming a troll haven. There are members there that handidly deserve a perma ban.

My request, as I intend to make this my new "goto" site... please, please give respect to all posters, regardless of console affiliation. Reason I say this is, the only reason I joined PSU in the day was that it was a one stop forum for me to talk about everything. I would like Union to be that for me now.

Equal respect no matter the thread. It's all I can hope for!

So far, so good... the discussions on this site, the people, seem awesome. I can't wait to see where it goes from here.

I know back on TXB before we all moved here this type of thing was discussed, to either make it xbox centric again, or go more universal. I think most of us agreed to have separate sub forums but PV made it known that no group would have free reign like it did back on TXB. I think we can all respect the other side, have our own little fanboy discussion in our sub forum without resorting to trolling the other side for kicks.

I think you'll be good here, illini. I don't know if you tracked it, but over the years, TXB became much less Xbox-centric and much more balanced. It's about 50/50, as far as I can tell. The mods are also very fair and don't tend to play favorites.

I'd say that we have more non-Xbox guys here than Pro-Xbox mods.

I hate everyone equally, so you won't have any problems from me. :D

LOL... I let everyone have equal chances to piss me off :)

It was just one thing I saw go downhill at the last site and it created a forum of hate and discontent. My passion to make sure forums are awesome is what prompted me to write this thread!

Yeah, TXB was much more balanced in the later years. Actually it was turning into a PS fan site with all the Xbox One hate. The mods really don't play favorites. So that's good.

I would like to take a vote, and have the IP addresses of all Chicago Bear fans blocked.:p:D

What you are asking for is a good thing but only time will tell if things remain the same or if this site becomes a troll central forum especially after both consoles are released.

Lets just hope it stays more or less the same...

I'll drink to that! So far, the respect and level of posting here is far above what I have seen recently at other places... I can't see how it won't continue.

Major League Gaming forums had this problem. So many Halo elitists would shun people the moment they were opposed to any of the former Halo games prior to Reach.

In otherwords, if you liked Halo Reach over Halo 2...you were an outcast.

I don't mind discussions and debates over video games, but when elitism comes out, it does nothing to favor a thoughtful discussion.

I can debate/discuss details of the game industry, video games, esports, game mechanics, etc till I'm blue in the face, but when one person starts insulting directly without actual additional thought to the discussion...then the line has been crossed.

To me, that line is crossed when people recoil. When smacked with facts, the elitists will turn to insults, or snarky animated gifs to deflect the fact that they can't countermand a post.

Trolls and other deluded fanboy types are eassssssy to spot.

In my 7 yrs of staff at PSU, I could identify a specific person based on a post or two who would register dozens of accounts using IP masks. They can't help but be obvious.

Things might get slightly more heated around the launch window, but as long as it's not overboard it can still bring about good discussions.

Yup, and some good moderation will ensure that!
You have seen our moderators right?
