Swordplay definitely better, I sometimes wonder how ac would do with For Honors swordplay.
Ghost definitely an amazing game, I agree.
That would be awesome. Of all the feature sharing UBI does, I shocks me that they dont do that. It's a fantastic melee combat system.

absolutely this. I’ve wanted them to bring that melee system to other games for years now.

I'm so sick of all of the barred doors. I'm making myself dizzy spending any amount of time walking around buildings looking up and down trying to find out how to enter them.

Just started the game today, graphics are okay. Some places look good, others look last gen. Definitely a tier below Miles and Demon's Souls though. Plays pretty well, did notice some performance drops and screen tears in cutscenes. Enjoying the game so far, only a few hours in.

One thing though , VGtech did an analysis of the new patch for PS5, and it seems to have lowered performance and introduced 3 times more screen tears than before. So far it's tolerable but I'm hoping Ubisoft rolls back the patch on the PS5 because it definitely make it worse than pre patch.

Just a heads up keep saving. I got the speak to UBBa glitch and didn't have a save to go back to. Now either have to restart or give up on the game.
Maybe an auto-save close to where you are in the game is still available. I ran into a quest bug myself but was able to load a previous auto-save point and get back to and complete the quest that was giving me problems. It was the quest that had the player following the large Elk.

I've switched to graphics mode and I think I'll stay in that mode. This game is a looker in performance mode but with all the graphical bells and whistles turned on it looks even better. And even in combat in large groups I haven't noticed any framerate drops or stuttering. I'm a console gamer so I'm used to 30 fps gaming, 60 is so much smoother though especially when adjusting the camera as we often do in open world games. But since half that framrate doesn't produce hugely noticeable gameplay differences for me I'll gladly go with the more visual appealing quality mode.

So... Judging by DF, xss is 720p@60fps... Wtf lol
Also, xsx works at lower res than ps5 after patch in performance mode but has more stable framerate than ps5 now.
And from what I gather, there's nothing more to the quality setting then native 4k, no additional effects or higher draw distance etc?
I'll keep the 60fps option, honestly didn't see much sharper image in quality mode on my 65" TV.

The patch was horrible for the PS5. Pretty much same resolution but lowered performance from pre-patch and also introduced more screen tears.

Cordelia is a huge pain. Her two other sisters weren't this much trouble and I didn't even pay attention to their power levels because they went down so easily. But Cordelia is at lvl340 and I'm at 102 and she can one-shot me. I had her health three quarters of the way down but one hit from her and she killed me. I think I need another few dozen levels before I can take her down. I really want Thor's armor.

BTW, if you haven't tried it yet equip two axes, its super stamina heavy but so satisfying to chop, chop everything.

Not

Not according to DF?

DF said opening scene ran worse.

VGtech ran the same analysis he did pre and post patch, the PS5 performance was 97% at 60fps pre-patch, it dropped to 92% post-patch meaning there were more fps drops.

One thing to note though , there was a bug rumoured that if you didn't reboot your PS5, you would be experiencing more performance drops. I don't know if VGtech did that or not when he did his analysis or if that was the reason for the performance drop. DF did experience same drops in opening scene then they rebooted and said it was fixed after and performance ran the same as before.

So I'm assuming that if you rebooted your Ps5 like DF did , you should be getting same performance pre and post patch.

The patch seems worse on XSX, but that's just my observations. Quality mode runs at a noticeable lower framerate. Before, the game didn't always hold 60, but it felt fine. Now it feels clunky. Performance mode runs smooth, as it should, but honestly I'd rather have the default mode back.

But performance mode was the only/default mode before the update?

Yeah default mode was performance mode before. Don't believe there was a quality mode pre patch.

They added quality mode (4k/30fps) in the recent patch. Ubisoft lowered the dynamic resolution for the XSX close to 1080p-1180p in some areas so that fps drops weren't as bad.

On another note just reached England area and so far enjoying it a lot more as the combat opens up.

Yes, but FPS seemed fine to me. Normally I want FPS more, but I thought the game ran fine. Wasn't a perfect 60 I'm sure, but it wasn't like it was choppy. I thought it nailed the visuals vs performance ratio perfectly before.

People were freaking out over a few FPS drops in a few scripted scenes which weren't a big deal until someone highlighted them.

There is one scene where you walk with NPCs with torches and it dropped to *gasp* 55ish for a few moments.

I only fought one sister and haven't attempted to fight the other two but i should cause I'm at lvl 289.

Right now I'm working on getting Excalibur.

I'm enjoying Valhalla alot more than I thought I would. Of the 3 new Assassin's Creed, I would rank them in order of enjoy-ability:

1. Origins
2. Valhalla
3. Odyssey

Valhalla is considerably more brutal in terms of combat. Bashing someone's head in or impaling them with their own spear hasn't gotten old yet.

Yeah my wife said this game is more brutal than past creeds.

Well, Cordelia is dead. Put that Bish down at lvl112. I was so excited thinking I had the full Thor armor set. But I'm missing one piece (Cloak) and did some research to find its location and the answer saddened me so I logged off, lol.

Are there any cool looking outfits later in the game? I'm around 25 hours in and what I've seen so far is terrible.

After about 2 mins, if I can't find a way in, I moved on, Most of the time the reward is not worth the effort.

I already was a fan of the game, but I'm loving it since the patch. Game looks and runs great for me now.
Same for me. I noticed a lot less screen tearing in performance mode. But I've since switched to quality mode because the overall presentation appears richer, especially when it comes to fog effects. In performance mode I couldn't make out objects meant to still be seen through the morning mist/fog but appears much better in quality mode. And the framerate is really stable at 30fps so there is no discernable impact on gameplay.

My only real complaint is how this game throttles new loot. Its great that we can upgrade our favorite weapons and armor to bring them along as our character increases their level and power. But its kind of crazy to think that I'm still using the Raven armor set we start out with because I only have a total of 3 armor sets at almost 40 hours into this massive game. By this time in Odyssey I'd have at least twice that amount to choose from.

I think my favorite thing about Valhalla is how it handles exploration and side quests. Those barred doors that require a little exploration and thought are a lot of fun to solve even if the rewards are lacking in most cases. There was one locked door that took me a while to figure out how to gain entry for myself and my raiders. It took a random arrow piercing the abbey window to provide the clue for entry and while that appears obvious now I had no idea at the time it was the only way to enter. It was a totally a trap too since I couldn't unlock the door before beating the enemies inside making for an exciting battle because I did not want to fail in getting the last piece of plunder and have to re-start the raid.

I also really like how the enemy levels don't seem to matter all that much. Sure, they can one-shot me but its totally doable to defeat an enemy well over my level. Suck it CORDELIA.

If I can't solve it myself after a few circles around the place, I usually just google it
