I think Ninja Gaiden series still has the best hack & slash gameplay I played. A shame the serirs is dead after (forgot dude name) left.
I don't know about that, Devil May Cry 5 is pretty up there for me as far as intricate/flexible/deep combat system. But I don't think you can compare those straight-up action titles to something like Valhalla which is a action/rpg.

Keep encountering this annoying bug in the game where the target person I'm trying to capture or talk to gets scared when I was in combat and then when I finally reach the target I am unable to talk to him or her and I have to restart checkpoint to before encounter happened ugh.

fair point.

Am i the only person that when ever you save, I get a screen freeze for 1-2 sec. Its very Obst Pudding.

Just restarted the game since I still had the problem with saving and quick travel. Good news is that after having played through the first run letting the Animus choose which Eivor to play as, now I know that male Eivor is definitely the way to go.

You know you can change the gender on the flay right? Just in case. I play exclusively the dude. Tried a while with the female one, & it was an easy choice to go back.

I can't imagine playing as a Viking with no beard!

I'm still trying to find a second Spear. I want to dual-wield them like that Drengr I killed.

I know, but in general I'm more likely to choose the "this is what the developers intended" choice if it's something like voice acting, so I let the Animus decide the first time through. I know you can toggle anytime but it kind of shatters the immersion if you do it midgame.

Because I'm sitting on a huge amount of upgrade materials I decided to take a chance on the Hunter armor set. I've had all the pieces for some time but didn't really want to focus on the bow as my primary means of combat, having too much fun with axes, hammers and a flail I really like. But I decided to upgrade it and check it out and its amazing. I can clear out a camp from a distance with this armor and a predator bow I have. I might have to increase the difficulty from the default settings. I'm just steamrolling over everything at this point, even Elite enemies or mini-bosses well above my level fall with ease.

I think I like this game so much because it seems to have the right amount of combat and exploration. You're not forced into doing battle all the time and can just look around for gear or hit the side content spread out all over the map. It also seems that this franchise gets better and better with each game and that's all I can ask for in a long running series.

Yeah, f***er, you're too good to be playing on normal (if my recollection of you carrying my worthless ass in the division 2 is any indication). I kind of suck and I'm in hard combat/hardest stealth setting.

Which, btw, I'm back to England in my restart now. I don't remember where the second dagger is but I need that s*** yesterday.

Still using my mythical spear and shield with all mythical armour set from Twitch prime rewards and haven't seen the need to change anything since. Just been upgrading it whenever I have the materials, lol.

Finally finished the main storyline. Took about 55hrs. Kind of anticlimactic in the end but still enjoyed the game enough.

wow really? That seems short. I’m only doing story missions and I’ve nearly 80 hours up on it at this stage. I still have two regions to visit as well. I do like to wander around a bit and I tend to sail to locations rather than fast travel though.

Decided to power through story missions and mostly skip all the sides and world events unless they were right there close to main story areas. I did quick travel a lot haha.

I never expected much from the story. It's sucked since Desmond died. I'm at about 55hrs and have a long way to go yet, but I'm an explorer, lol

Tbh, this is the first AC game I've finished since Black Flag 🤣

I was at least expecting some sort of credit roll or something.

My gf beat Origins but I never played that one. We never got Odyssey but heard good things.

I liked Origins a lot but could not get into Odessy. Completely burnt out on the setting

I remember enjoying Black Flag quite a bit. Can't remember the story. It had some cool moments though.
Kenway abandoned his wife and kid for adventure and freedom, later realizing his egoism and sailed home with his daughter.
The assassin story was pretty much in a status quo though, so I guess that arc was meh, but edward and the pirates stories was great imo

Oh I really like Kenway and crew. The Abstergo thing was a bit interesting as they had figured out a way to sell the animus experience and you were some kind of spy. Kinda undid the whole "need to be an ancestor" angle that I liked and made for interesting scenarios. I guess I do remember some, lol.

A lot of people complain about the modern animus stuff, but I always liked it with Desmond as he had an arc as well. More and more it feels less like story, and more like "person does thing". I don't know.
