That's a women name lol

I'll be in my bunk.

I'll most likely be playing this on PC, but considering the release timing with next-gen consoles I'd probably hold off to play them, just like some of the other exclusives coming for XB1 and PS4 at this point.

I've watched that cinematic trailer about 10 times today lol, they really did an amazing job with it. I say this every single time a CGI trailer for a game comes out but they should just start making videogame movies like this instead of live action. The only one that's done it so far is Square with their CGI final fantasy movies but those rarely have enough action in them. I'd watch a movie that looked like this a hundred times lol.

I wish they'd stop wasting resources on these CGI videos now. It was awesome years ago when graphics weren't all that great. Now, it seems totally unnecessarIy. I'd prefer seeing in engine (non gameplay) graphics over these CGI videos. The screenshots are great and at least provide an idea on what we can expect from the game. The gameplay info released so far seems pretty exciting.

I haven't touched this series since Brotherhood. I had 100% the first game and the second and was in the process of the same for Brotherhood when they announced Revolutions. Once they went yearly I said no way. That said, with Origins and then Odyssey it looked like they were taking their time and making changes so I've wanted to get into them again. I plan on starting Origins really soon. Valhalla is sounding great just based on the setting.
I really like AC 3, Black Flag, and Unity. Didn't care for the one in London. Really liked Origins (because Bayek is awesome ), but am having a hard time getting into Odessy.

I'm not a big fan of the new fight system. I miss the old emphasis on traversal, urban stealth, and parry based combat. The new ones just feel floaty and button mashy.

Hopefully they can tighten it up more for Valhalla because its probably going to be even more combat focused. I don't know why they don't take inspiration from the awesome For Honor series...

2/3 chhose the dude. There is your answer.

Simple fact is that women and LGBQT make up a small portion of the whole. Not sure why every game needs a female lead anyway. They have awesome Lara Croft and Alloy. Guess those are not mainliine and AAA enough

Also Ubisoft, think they did this IP bacjk then, had non white lead decades ago with Prince of Persia on that Sega handheld.

I'm not sure why you wouldn't have the expectation that action games would have male leads. I mean, even today that would still be 90% of warriors. Historically that's even more true. It'll be interesting to see a Viking/European historical setting having every third person be of a different racial makeup.

You know its gonna happen. Like in Far Cry 5 where all the hunters were women and half of them were black, lol. No shade, but it was like, Montanna, lol, and ain't a ton of independent female hunters out there. Then the passive role of fishermen was the guys.

It's so transparent and reminded me of agenda constantly. Thankfully It didn't have an impact on the story, but still.

Well see how they handle the Vikings and the dual nature of valuing family/community while also being ravenous raiders. Maybe we will get something thought provoking.

Best fighting was in 3 imo, they simplified it by black flag. The new system is fine though when you get into it, the huge battles are amazing when you get the flow going imo.
My least played AC was Rogue followed by Syndicate.
Best AC for me is Origins, Bayek is the best main in the entire series imo and I LOVE ancient Egypt.

The actor who plays the male character is named Magnus in real life.

For those worried they've gone too feminine, there's nothing more manly than a guy named Magnus Bruun

Eivor is still a womans name... they must've given the male lead another name surely?

Also, Bruun means brown... not sure if very manly? Magnus is though I guess.

No it's the same name for both, I'd go find the tweet for you that I saw but it was on resetera and I've already gotten a 6 week ban for talking about people whining about everything not being about them or their feelings lol.

Anyway one of the people working on the game was asked if the female would be "cannon again because that person really liked that about AC Odyssey" and the guy replied "Both are cannon, you'll be surprised how we pull that off" or something to that effect. Replying to that tweet being posted was what started the ball rolling for my eventual ban lol.

Was just looking at Ubisofts website, they have a wolf mount for the game, hopefully he can attack people while you ride him :) Also I don't now if this has been talked about but you can create Viking mercenaries to share online and if your friends use them in their battles you get some kind of reward.

I'm still baffled by the naming.
Looking at odyssey it was logical that both were canon, although the story did shift the who became the "bad guy " so in reality you don't get the canonical story if you played as Alexios. Syndicate did it though, but you they had different story missions for the twins.
Also... I'm not going to be able to play a male lead named Eivor, it's like an amerikan male named Patricia lol

What about a man named Carol, one of my sisters is married to a guy named Carrol and I always ask him how his sister Frank is doing and I'm sure it pisses him off because he's probably had to endure being teased about his name all of his life, oh well he's an a****** so I don't care how he feels lol.

Getting back on track, there are some names that can be unisex, not sure about the one in this game though, usually there is a different spelling.

I've never heard of male Scandinavian by that name, granted I didn't live in the viking age, but there's not one male viking by that name in any historic literature afaik

I think it could be used to give the overarching story a lift, they balanced it okay in origins and odyssey, but at this point they might as well just have it play out in cutscenes.
