Well that was a surprise.
Now you don't have to go to your grandparents in Norway for the traditional raping and pillaging, you can just play this instead.

It doesn't feel the same....

Does that mean XSX and or PS5 will be out then? MS and Ubi seem to be pushing the next gen narrative with the game.

I think it’s releasing at the smart time..? But MS appears to have marketing rights, so they might get it first..?

AC: Black Flag released on PS3 and 360 at the end of October 2013, it was already out when the PS4 and X1 launched so the "next gen" versions at the time were considered launch games but it was already out on other platforms they didn't wait for the new consoles, PS4 had the marketing rights for that game. I don't doubt this game will launch a few weeks before the new consoles do again, both will have it on their launch day. As far as one of them getting it first it just depends which one launches first.

Is this gonna release on Xbox one before the series X? If so I wonder how saves will work. Could be a tough decision on when to play the game. I absolutely loved Odyssey but at no point did I want to start over

It is the same game...why would saves be an issue.

Cutscenes counts as gameplay? Lol

I guess "realtime" or "in-engine" trailer just doesn't sound as good, I hate that they have to do that kind of marketing buzzword talk as well. They did always refer to it as a trailer though and yet people expected some sort of gameplay walkthrough type deal which obviously isn't what they were suggesting. I just want to see MS's and Ubisoft's e3 replacement streams. Sucks with this dumbass corona s*** ruining e3 this year, it was gonna be a big one with WB throwing their hat in the press conference ring and what not. Lot of games to come out at the end of the generation still.

I will say though, while I'm cautiously optimistic, this game has piqued my interest more than Origins or Odyssey did (I still haven't even opened odyssey).

They said gameplay trailer, that's a big difference than just saying it's a trailer, they made people expect to see actual gameplay and there really wasn't any it was all in game cinematics and scripted moments. The creative director tried to lower expectations the day before but I'm guessing the marketing team and MS wanted to hype it because it was the biggest game that was going to be shown today.

Oh yeah

I know, I was pointing out that they called it a gameplay trailer, I guess I didn't make clear where my intended emphasis was. I think everyone who tuned in specifically to see the "gameplay trailer" certainly expected more than what we got. I just meant that when I see something referred to as a 'trailer', basically I'm not expecting to see the game's HUD, or for it to take on the format of a gameplay presentation. A trailer is a scripted, cinematic camera angle marketing video, whereas a gameplay demonstration would be raw gameplay, that is the point I was trying to make. All in all that whole stream was pretty weak, the fact that a sub 2 minute trailer for a cross gen game was the highlight proves that...

An ex-dev on this game is giving some non-spoiler details. If you read the comments he answers more questions about it.

I always got a good vibe off him

Yeah I started following him on twitter when they announced Black Flag, he's always come across like a good guy and it seems like a lot of people in the industry like him.
