That's good they are using 900p for X1. Helps with the frame rate without too much lost in detail.

"We decided to lock them at the same specs to avoid all the debates and stuff,"

PS4 only players should be pissed tbh lol i would think it could have reached 1080p, saying that Watch dogs was 900p on PS4.

i still dont know whether to get it on PC, the guy says the game is CPU bound rather than GPU (CPU is the weakest part of my PC) and if i cant get 50-60fps on PC its really not worth it cause 30fps or so feels alot worse on PC for some reason

Good news for everyone in my opinion!! This res bull needs to put to rest!! Also please dont start with this xbox one is holding ps4 or pc back please!! This is ubisofts choice!!

What's really hilarious about the comments, is they are still doing it, lol. I can't imagine they actually read the article. UBI is saying the bottleneck is with the CPUs, not the GPUs (AI processing is apparently nasty resource hungry) which are pretty much the same on both, right?

I have watched a few Digital Foundry videos comparing differences in resolution and to my eyes I can't tell the difference. The even more casual gamer definitely won't. Both boxes have mid tier specs. Having one box claim the superior version when very few can actually make that distinction with their eyes is silly.

Apparently the massive amount of AI processing is the culprit. Perhaps X1 owners should be pissed because they aren't using the cloud to help take the load off!

Watch Dogs doesn't look to be doing anything near Ass Creed U, tbh. 30,000 NPCs?!!

Seriously, it's really not that bad, lol. I do feel you about your PC, though. I'd be mad if my Uber-computer couldn't run these games where I wanted. Still, it's hardly a new thing for PC gaming, is it? Optimization is a bitch.

If it runs much better at 900p then go for it. I would rather the game be playable than 1080p especially seeing as most wouldn't know unless told.

Good point I thought I was the only one that noticed this!! Apparently Neo Gaf didn't notice either they are going crazy!!!

I think at this point only exclusives will use the cloud since the PS4 dose not have a service like Azure. But I think cloud based games will start showing up at the end of 2015. Halo 5, Crackdown and tomb raider will probably use the cloud on a more substancial level then just drivatars!!

Well what you do you think when you read "We decided to lock them at the same specs to avoid all the debates and stuff"?

If they aren't holding back the PS4 version then they really need to work on their PR.

If 900p was the best they could do I'd be totally fine with it, saying they are holding it back to avoid debates was idiotic.

I'm getting more annoyed by 30 FPS for most games more then the res crap. These system are far from next gen.:yteeth:

NeoGAF is melting down. Offensive behavior on the part of Ubisoft, conspiracy theories, and cash exchanging hands are the accusations. A definite sense of entitlement is taking place.

Wow. Ubisoft openly admits to holding back the PS4 version for the sake of parity. That's terrible. If I can have 1080p, then I want 1080p. But interesting with what they said about the underpowered CPUs. Sony and MS kept telling devs "we heard you and decided to give you 8 cores!" that are extremely under locked AMD cores.... :/ Welcome to the next generation of dumb AI.

From what I read sounded like the cpu where holding the fps back more so then holding the resolutions back. I could be wrong though.

Ubisoft's statement is such a flame for the online parity talk/resolution wars. Can't believe they actually said it.

On the flip side though, there's FAR more PS4 owners now vs. the number back in late 2013/early 2014. The PS4 version of the game will more than likely sell more than PS4 Black Flag either way (regardless of boycotts). Probably why they decided to "troll" because I honestly don't see how they didn't think that this (insanity) would be the outcome of their statement.

And the MS/Phil Spencer conspiracy theories are hilarious. I would buy into them if this becomes a trend in the future for other MS marketed multiplats (Call of Duty, Evolve, etc.) but as of right now this seems to be all Ubisoft. Ubisoft didn't even have to say anything about this. They could have just confirmed the game is 900p on both and left it at that and have many people assume it isn't 1080p due to "the game doing more than the cross-gen Black Flag" or having people think "PS4 will still probably have better visual effects".

This (IMO, warranted) reaction is mainly from Ubisoft's terrible statement. Nothing with Microsoft.

What a s***show from Ubisoft. Great way to piss off 10m+ potential customers.

That said it wouldn't shock me if they had a deal to prevent the PS4 from having a higher resolution/frame rate. Of course that is 100% speculation.

I love reading meltdown thread. They make me giggle. The only good thing to come out of that thread.

Ubisoft's PR department at this very moment

Game will look fine. Also will sell tons. It's actually a fun game, imagine that.

Also, will look most amazing on PC.

I'm positive that way more than half of the user base couldn't care less about this news. Heck, I would even bet that the PS4 version of the game will still sell more.

The vast majority of Assassin's Creed buyers I doubt will be aware of this. Also if the vast, vast majority of gamers can't tell the difference in resolutions unless Digital Foundry tells them ahead of time and even then they can't tell then it don't matter in the end. It's a fanboy talking point and a superiority card taken away (which is the real outrage). No surprise a multiplatform developer decides not to participate in this.

So why should any developer even bother to get to 1080p?
