Already ordered my original Rog Ally extreme, refurbed with 12 month warranty in "mint condition" for about $600 (they're about $800 new here). Thought about canceling and buy this instead... but, for me, it's not worth it. The battery is better, but I'm not going to play it outside of a house/apartment etc, so I don't mind having it connected to a power socket while gaming in the couch. The USB-C for being able to dock it with other GPUs than the Asus X mobile is tempting, but if I want to play on a big screen with better graphics and performance I'll be playing on the Xbox anyway.
Great update nevertheless.

I’m trying to play Stalker OG on the Ally but I can’t find any community controller layouts that will actually work.
I tried all three controller modes on the Ally and only Desktop mode does anything. And it just moves the camera up and down.
Any suggestions?

Apparently you have to use the REWASD app to be able to play it properly.

Need it for any game that didn't have controller support.

Not worth upgrading for me, too expensive. But if I lived in a country where electronics didn't cost a fortune, I'd probably upgrade and if I already hadn't bought the og extreme, I'd be all over this.
Double battery and especially the extra Ram is tempting.

I don't think it's worth the upgrade. The biggest gripe I had about my original ROG Ally was that the card reader died, which apparently is common, and the internal drive was too small. I was able to clone the original internal drive and swap it out to a 2 TB internal drive, which has been awesome.

I might pick up one of these eventually if they get a sale price drop.

Yes, my card reader died within a week and corrupted a 512gb SD card lol.
I'm not even going to send it in since they doesn't seem to have fixed it anyway.
I'm leaning towards upgrading the ssd, but in a way it's good for me to have a small drive since it makes me actually finish games to make room for new installs.

Seems like you get roughly double the battery life depending on the game, plus a slight framerate boost overall. I still maintain it isn't worth the upgrade if you have the base ROG Ally. If you're taking a long roadtrip you can probably plug it in to your car and if you're on a plane you're better off getting a high quality power bank.

Yeah he told us we console war too much, though GAF isn't really the place to avoid it.
Gaf doesn't allow the stalking/trolling member s*** though.

I was banned one time there for quoting 4chan PS5 specs that they lied about.

And that was a misunderstanding as they thought I was agreeing with the 4chan bs.
