Back into PC gaming!

Yea I'll be building a new PC once Zen comes out (whether I go with that or Intel is up for debate) and part of me wouldn't mind just buying a premade somewhere. I already have a new GPU and SSD though so if I can't build one without those then probably will just do it myself. But like you it would mostly be for hassle free, time saving, warranty, etc. I've built enough PCs in my time plus work in IT so I spend enough time doing this s*** anyways.

I actually am really impressed with 'modern' PC gaming, auto updates for gfx card drivers for games etc makes life a lot easier. Seems like it's much more user friendly nowadays which is fantastic. No trying to figure stuff out for yourself which is one of the reasons why I stopped PC gaming, that and it was hard to upgrade a system. I am falling back in love with gaming on the PC

It is a lot more user friendly nowadays. A lot of the archaic complaints people throw around are done so out of pure ignorance.

Only thing that is still an issue for me and why I will never go back to 100% PC gaming is cheating in multiplayer games.

Any who. Only 2 more weeks and I will be able to start on my back log of games that I saved up for when I get my GTX 1060. I originally bought it end of October but my brother saw it, stole it and then told me it would be my Christmas present....so can not moan bout it too much.

Looking forward to finally be able to play..

Rise of the Tomb Raider
CIV 6
Mirror's Edge: Catalyst
Witcher 3: GOTY Edition
Mafia 3
Quantum Break
And maybe Watchdogs 2

Make sure you play Witcher 3 first. Or you can save the best for last. :-D

I have already played the main story of Witcher 3 on Xbox, but I have yet to play any of the DLC. Which is why I am double dipping.

Think I will start with Rise of the Tomb Raider and Quantum Break since they are fairly short games

ok just had a quick blast on blender and OMFG!!! I am so happy. if I try and render out a scene on my MacBook pro with AMD gfx, it took about 20 mins just for one frame, on this about 5 secs!!!!! this is bloody amazing!!!!
so much better as when I am trying to light a scene for eg, I need to see full render to see what the final product will look like and waiting 20 mins just to find out its wrong aint good. this is a game changer for me :)
Sweet! Blender eh? You got some work online I can see? My ancient computer renders slow as hell. A five second render sounds awesome

Yeah I will pop something up in a couple days. I ain't an expert but I LOVE playing around with blender, cinema 4D, element 3D etc and now I've added 3D animation to my pastime of video games, movies and hip hop.

Re the 5 sec render that's only one frame and a single image not the whole thing. But even so, rendering a full scene is prob 10 times faster than on my other system. It's a game changer for me.

ok this is a short ive been working on, like I said I have only just started learning blender a couple months ago so still very new and lots to learn.
but I bloody love it lol, this is my first proper attempt at putting a scene together.
this is a combo of blender, after effects, element 3d, prem pro and a few other bits of software. its rough and needs a lot more work.
I wont keep it on youtube that long so when you've watched it let me know please :)

That's sweet, man. You obviously have experience with another pakage. You model, texture, and animate yourself?

no its first time I have used something like this, i don't model myself yet, still learning and the models are mo capped. also i used a lot of other software to achieve this, it took a good couple weeks for this scene.

Ueah, I could see the motion capture. Still, pretty darn good for never using a 3d program before :)

thanks but like I said still very rough in places, but I have found a new hobby and enjoy it so much. I thought after effects was a mind f**k lol then I discovered blender and nodes :O

I haven't messed with nodes much, but I am familiar with them because 3ds Max has used them for a while. I'm fed up with autodesk, though. Blender is remarkable in it's functionality for a free program. I.ve not messed with Mocap in Blender. I always make my own rigs, and that often doesn't jive well with Mocap unless made a certain way.

I love After Effects too. Ever mess with the pins? Really neat for animation.

one thing I don't miss about online PC gaming is the (sometimes) horrible community. I stopped using voice chat in PC and console games years ago cos of the idiots that I sometimes bumped into, and lately have been playing Overwatch on PC which is amazing, and I don't use voice chat and thank god you can disable type chat as well which is great as the couple times I have been in there, its not nice!
people get so angry so quick and one game they reported me cos I used Mei for a map she isn't meant to be used on lol and I got the most kills with her, but hey cos the team lost it was because of me haha
so yep I now don't even go in normal chat

So true man. I've been PC gaming almost exclusively for the past year. Up until bf1 I was playing single player content only, which has been great! In battlefield I've been floored by the amount of profanity, map hacking/cheating, lack of teamwork, and overall maturity(lack thereof) within the PC community... I assumed on PC I would be playing with an older crowd and that the childish behavior you often see on consoles would be mitigated. Wrong!

Anyways, I'll be sticking to consoles for any competitive mp in the future.

The PC Battlefield community used to be awesome back in the 1942 and Battlefield 2 days. Lots of teamwork, nice people, and really enjoyable games...still had cheaters though.

Somewhere in the Battlefield 2142 era it all changed rather quickly. After that the online PC crowd just became worse and worse.

Similar happened on Xbox Live as well. During the Xbox era the community was pretty damn awesome. That all changed during the 360 era.

my first proper PC online game was kingpin and UT, on xbox it was whacked lol and the first wave of online gamers were cool, I hate to say this and sterotype but yep prob nerdy, now cos its cool to be a gamer, you get all sorts of people including the not so nice ones who hide behind their online identities and think its fun to be horrible online, treat people bad and talk s**t, stuff I bet 99% of them wouldn't dare say in RL to someones face. I had a real funny online experience many years ago were I arranged to meet someone in RL who had online beef with me lol.......that's a story for another day.......

also I actually priced up the parts of my PC and tbh building one myself wouldn't work out that much cheaper. years ago when you could get OEM parts a LOT cheaper it was worthwhile, nowadays I don't think there is much difference. not in my systems case anyways.

That's because it consolized and made more main stream.

Second bolded, I absolutely agree.
