Definitely wait and see. I think it can bounce back. It sold well, so people own it. If it gets good, people will be back.

Definitely hold off though. There's always a chance that EA just pulls the plug like Anthem. I don't think that will happen though.

They've got to do some sort of season pass, as one of the editions came with it, so people already paid for more content.

Just like No Man's Sky, some of the criticism was valid, but some of it was just the internet piling on. People are making this sound like a combination of Cyberpunk + BF4s launch and it isn't that bad. People don't like some design decisions and that's fair, but I still think it can be a lot of fun once you get past the changes.

I'm one of the few long time BF fans who actually thinks Specialists were a good idea (dons fire proof suit). I think it represents more how modern gamers play. The class system was a great concept that still could never change how people played. You can't make players play a game the way we want.
Are there any updates on what they plan for season pass owners? I mean the biggest news that came out since coming out of hibernation is a new UI scoreboard.

None. Their lack of communication is definitely a big part of the problem. All we know is there's a Feb patch. They haven't mentioned a season at all, but they pre-sold it so they have to do something or give people refunds.

They still let their individual developers tweet and don't really have a strong community manager. They seem clueless how modern games work. Have one person be the point for all that. Even if they can't provide details, let us know a season is coming. Seems like they are the only AAA studio that hasn't figured this out.

They literally release a live service game in the fall then take off 4 whole weeks for the holidays (must be in their contract). It is just lunacy. Everyone needs a break, but 4 weeks? Again maybe a European vs American thing. If I asked my boss for 4 weeks off, he'd laugh in my face.

I think if they come out with a good patch plus a season announcement, then they can go free to play or even just sell the game cheap and I think you have a good chance of bringing it back.

Had a few games over the weekend, ran as smooth as butter on conquest and breakthrough, though I didn't play the maps it has slowed down for me in the past (manifest).

Hopefully they can come out with some exciting maps in the future, these just feel so boring, squad change, game chat and a proper scoreboard would be a good start too. Almost 4 months later.

Feels great rolling around with fully upgraded vehicles from playing bots, glad DICE did something right letting us progress with bots.

I think this is good news all around. They are keeping Dice to work on 2042. Someone else taking Battlefront might be a good thing too (although I never got the hate BF2 got for actual gameplay, thought it was great).

A bummer for me, I really enjoyed Dice's Battlefronts. 2 especially was fantastic after the launch progression / microtransaction crap was sorted out. That said, with how unreliable Dice is these days, it is probably good to take it from them.

Maybe we'll be crazy lucky and find out Battlefront is one of the Star Wars games Respawn just announced they're working on. There are only so many active devs who would be a good fit for that type of game.

That's funny. Battlefront wasn't even on the drawing board. EA shelved it before 2042 even released.

That sucks, but if they don't think Dice can pull it off, it is the right call. Do it right or put it off. As much as I love Dice and all Battlefront and Field games, they need to take a hard look at what is going on.

I still think it is good for 2042. I don't buy that this game is dead and gone. Put Dice on adding tons of new content.

It is good for BF2042 as they are forced to stay on it plus Vince taking over=good things. The only question is... how long until we get content?
I heard March but who knows.

Tons of new content isn't going to get it done. The core of the game is f***ed and people hate it. Dice won't make the big changes needed.

Even the content creators can't be asked to try and hype up the game and have simply moved on, and the majority of players lost simply won't come back no matter what Dice do

Do we know if the Portal devs (Criterion?) Are working on bringing other maps as well, would be good to have two studios working on new content.

At this point they've been so quiet. Hopefully they are heads down working on some big improvements and content, and just waiting to announce a bunch of stuff. Although the way this has gone, they could put everything off too. Who knows.

They returned from Vacation around Jan 10th so they are working on things now.

Season pushed back to summer which is not surprising. Sounds like they are not dumping the game, but it is going to be a long haul. Don't think free to play was ever going to happen (they sold too much already to people).

EA investor call was today.

EA admits the game was a launch failure.
EA refused to give sales numbers, but numbers were disappointing.

I like the abilities and stuff that come with the heroes, but just hate their annoying quips and been stuck to one kind of skin/character, I just want to customize a normal soldier.

You can customize the Hero's.
Unfortunately a certain one is under a agenda.

I mean I really enjoy using Sundance and the healing person, but as I said I just want to customize a normal soldier with normal gear, not some quippy annoying prick with crappy customize options.

Yeah I think people are far too quick to dismiss the specialists. There's some crazy things I've seen done with the wingsuit. I know I'll send BF vets into a rage, but I don't think we need to go back to classes (it isn't happening anyway, they already sold specialist cosmetics).

The specialist system will work fine if they add in all the squad stuff they say they are planning. Voice comms plus a ping system will be big. That's what hurt teamplay, not specialists. Half the players ignored teamplay in past games and still do.

What bogs down play is the maps, and they've hinted at reworking existing maps to get rid of the massive open areas. That's why 128 player conquest was so bad. Huge, open areas where you just get randomly killed.

Right now? Yeah. They delayed the first patch today too. Going to be awhile.

It can come back though. Just going to take a lot of time. It might take months before we see improvements unfortunately.
Could turn around like Sea of Thieves then.
