No Wii U X1 version announced(yet)

Was getting it on pc anyway but now will just get the ps4 version.

UPDATE: NetherRealm Studios chief Ed Boon has suggested it's unlikely an Xbox One version of Injustice will be released.

Some have speculated that the PS4 version of Injustice, announced today, is a timed next-gen exclusive, and will eventually launch on Microsoft's console.

But, according to a series of tweets by Boon, this seems doubtful.

"Please tell me it comes on xb1 so I can sell my 360," DLG1202 tweeted at Boon. Boon's reply: "Um.... I wouldn't sell that 360 copy..."

Then, after "C2CA_KILLA" pointed out: "Injustice sold the most on xbox. So tell me the logic behind no xbox one version?", Boon replied: "Again... not as simple as that."

It was a similar response to questions around the lack of a Wii U version of Ultimate Edition - despite the original version launching on Nintendo's console: "It's not as simple as that."

Eurogamer has asked Warner for comment.

Xbox.com has a short Q@A with the developers of, Tom Clancy's The Division from Gamescom. Every time I read anything about this game I just want it more and more. I'm glad it's not a launch title as it would definitely prevent me from playing any other games.

At gamescom, we were thrilled to announce with our partners at Massive Entertainment and Ubisoft that “Tom Clancy’s The Division” will launch with exclusive content on Xbox One. Now, more details are being shared about one of the most hotly anticipated titles of 2014. Be sure to check out the latest issue of Edge magazine for an exclusive cover story about “Tom Clancy’s The Division,” and then read our Xbox Wire interview with Massive Entertainment’s Fredrik Rundqvist, Executive Producer, and Ryan Barnard, Game Director to find out how they’re using the power of Xbox One to create a new generation of gaming.

What are you most excited about for developing on new generation hardware?

Ryan Bernard: There are many things to talk about on this topic, but I would say that it’s mainly about being far less limited in scope, and being allowed to create the immersive experience we want as gamers. For "Tom Clancy’s The Division," creating the most detailed NYC that we have ever seen is a major focus for us. NYC is a character in our game, so we need to give it a presence and a feel that will get the players truly immersed in this universe. Each new generation of consoles allows us to do more, and with this new generation, we are able to really achieve our vision of what a chaotic, mid-crisis NYC would be like and what it would feel like to be there fighting to stop the complete fall of our society.

How will a new generation of hardware impact/change/revolutionize the future of your title/gaming?

Ryan Bernard: Each new generation of console is a revolution, and precedes a revolutionary generation of games. With this new release, we have the possibility of reaching a whole new level of realism and details in the environment. In "Tom Clancy’s The Division," we are finally able to truly recreate the diseased, but living world we had envisioned. Extremely advanced NPC behavior, in and out of combat, a state of the art weather system and day and night cycle, are examples of features that contribute strongly to a very plausible and disturbing setting, in a place that we all know very well. All of this aims at immersing the player even deeper, and giving him the best gaming experience as possible.

How many studios are working on/will have worked on “The Division” and can you explain a little bit about what each studio is contributing and the process of working with multiple studios to develop a single title?

Fredrik Rundqvist:
It´s part of the Ubisoft DNA to develop big titles across many studios, to bring developers from different places and expertise together. "The Division" is going to be part of that structure. As the lead studio, the majority of design and directing the game is and will be done out of Massive, but we are very likely to work with one or several other Ubisoft studios on various aspects of the game. This is a great way to share talent, learn from each other and thus provide an even better experience for the games. We will keep you posted when we have more information to share about this.

It was revealed that Ubisoft will make online multiplayer in “The Division” more meaningful with the loss of equipment and gear whenever a player dies online – what are other ways in which “The Division” is providing players an immersive and tension-wrought experience online?

Ryan Bernard: We believe that the online aspect of our game is an element that will truly enhance the gaming experience. Playing in teams will not only be fun and very useful for combat tactics, but is very likely to give the player more rewards too. We are also creating a matchmaking system that will allow players who don’t have friends playing the game at a given moment, to not just randomly meet new people in the game, but to be matched with gamers that match their play style.

How will the second screen-game experience in “The Division” differ from the second-screen experience in other games?

Ryan Bernard: We are creating a second-screen experience that will be really meaningful for the game. It will be a whole new experience for the group, through simultaneous and asymmetric gameplay between the mobile device and the console/PC game. Companion gamers will be able to seamlessly join the game, anywhere they want, as an actual character. The drone is a persistent character that you can level up in gear, weapons and skills. From the team’s stand point, it gives an edge for tactical combat, as well exploration from a bird’s eye view.

What do you feel is the trademark of a Tom Clancy title and how does/will that be reflected in “The Division?”

Fredrik Rundqvist: To us, Tom Clancy is about clear and present danger, tactical movement, military accuracy and tech gadgets. And all of that is part of the core of the game experience and the IP. The team has a long history of consulting experts, doing extensive background research on the settings of our games, and one of the Tom Clancy trademarks has always been plausibility and realism. I think "The Division," as a whole, is very much grounded in reality.

No X1 version either, honestly, a bit surprised by that. Although good for Sony fighting game fans, X1 has KI, PS4 will get Injustice. I heard it was a decent game, plus it has Lobo as a character so that's a bonus in my books.

Hmm no MP achievements? That's a bit surprising.

I'd be mildly shocked if XB1 didn't get this game eventually. The FG community isn't like most others, they don't care about which console they play on so long as they have access to their games on all platforms.

Also, why is it that when a mod starts a thread it makes my forum format go all wonky?

I was using mid-tone (kind of a grey/black theme), changed it to fusion and it's properly formatted now.

Was waiting on this game for the PC to be run in it's full glory. Now all I need is for it to work in 3d like MK and I'll be set!

It's a smart move to place it on PS4 as it will be unrivalled in that genre on that system . X1 has KI and although a port to X1 wouldn't hurt there is a possiblity being the only next gen system Injustice is on and with the touch pad features will make it feel less stale .

That said I've been eyeballing the limited edition at walmart for 360 but this is the kind of deal that I might not be able to pass up . Any arcade sticks announced for PS4 ?

Awesome! I can't wait for this to come out. I think that this has been the franchise of this gen for me.

Double Helix has struck gold so far next gen.

The Xbox One and PlayStation 4 are almost here, and they’ll play games and play them well. That’s what we’ll love about them. But other than playing games, what new features do the consoles have that you’re most looking forward to? Below are my top five most anticipated features... In no particular order.

Kinect
Say what you want about it not being hardcore or being a gimmick or an NSA spying tool, I’m looking forward to it. I really don’t care if games use it as a gimmick. That’s not the reason I’m looking forward to it. I don’t currently have a Kinect. I think the current one is basically a ‘beta.’ My biggest draw to Kinect is the voice control. I can’t wait to come home and say, “Xbox on,” and have my entire entertainment system turns on. Navigating the menus, with voice or gestures, without having to pick up a controller, will be awesome. While it’s a first world problem, laying on the couch and not being able to reach the Xbox 360 with your media remote is a pain in the ass. Voice controls will come in handy during those lazy Sunday Netflix catch-up marathons.

Superior Multitasking
Both the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One will be heavy multitaskers. They will go about it in different ways, but you’ll be able to pause both machines mid-game and pick up where you left off. No more saving the game and exiting if you only want to switch to another game or app for a minute--simply pause, switch, and go right back to your game.

PS Vita PlayStation 4 remote play
This is one of the PlayStation 4’s killer features and I don’t think it gets enough press. You no longer need to drag your PS4 into the bedroom or the den because your significant other wants to watch TV. Set the stream to the PS Vita, throw on some headphones and you’re now mobile, leaving the TV available for others to enjoy.

Gameplay video uploads straight from the console
I have never uploaded a gameplay video, ever. I’ve had some great fighting battles and very cool FPS kills that I just wanted to share with the world, I just never have. With the advanced media uploading features of the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4, I’ll be using it fairly often. There are a lot of FPS videos out there, but frankly, it’s a major hassle recording gameplay from a console unless you’re dedicated to it. The hassle is gone now. While there will be time limits for how long clips can be, it’s still a great feature that appears to be both seamless and user friendly.

Updated controllers
From the One controller’s new digital d-pad and rumble triggers, to the PlayStation’s redesigned DualShock 4, our hands are in for a treat. I’m a fighting game fan that has long since abandoned a joystick. Struggling through fighting game after fighting game with the Xbox 360’s d-pad will hopefully be gone for good. No amount of modifications and shaving could make that d-pad really usable for fighting games. I never got the transforming d-pad controller, but I heard it wasn’t much of an improvement.

The DS4’s big new feature is obviously the touch pad. This will be a gem for navigating menus. If there’s a momentum feature built into the software like on mobile devices, even better. It can also open up a new world of possibilities. While I think Steam Machine’s replacement of thumbsticks with touch pads is the future of controllers, having a touch sensitive pad is the step in-between. It will give developers a chance to explore the ‘new’ tech and come up with creative ways to incorporate it into games. I can see both Sony and Microsoft coming out with controllers with at least one thumbstick removed and replaced with a touch pad this coming generation.

So there you have it, my top five non-game features I’m looking forward to next gen. What are some of yours?

Those are some good choices. Similar to what you listed, I'd say I'm most excited for the new controllers, and for speed improvements of multitasking and bringing up menus / dashboards / friends lists / invites / etc.

The ability to play as you're still installing or downloading the game will be great too, no more sitting around waiting for 10 mins or more when you come home with a game you're excited about.

Also excited to mess around with the video upload stuff, but I'm honestly not sure how much I'll use it.

Improved multi-tasking is what I'm looking forward to prolly the most. I like the fact that the 360 is a versatile box now, especially more so now that I have a couple of children, so an improvement upon that is great. I'm also looking forward to improved Kinect and the enhanced controller.

I'm looking forward to developers being able to use the cloud and update their games without releasing hard-coded title updates that we have to physically download. On top of that, I'm looking forward to the cost of title updates being completely done away with.

There's a lot of behind the scenes things with next-gen gaming that are far better than the motion-tech/camera accessories.

I also like that online multiplayer will be completely re-vamped, i.e., the Killzone example from E3 where you can join live multiplayer games straight from the main dashboard without having to load the game first.

Personally I'm looking forward to the rollout of Gakai, because it might save me from having to buy a PS3.

I like the updated PS4 controller, too. Looking forward to Vita TV also.
