What I said was that they weren't comrpomising anything in terms of the eSRAM. It was in the design from day 1, before 8GB of RAM and before DDR3. Here, this is from before what they are talking about there. It's from mid-2010 and seems to be the first design they were exploring:

Next slide, we see they were planning on considering eSRAM instead of eDRAM:

Also, here is what they said in the DF article:

So not sure what you are trying to refute of what I said. The eSRAM isn't there as a bandaid. It's been in the design from jump street, prior to 8GB and prior to DDR3. It was there as a natural evolution of the eDRAM on 360, just as I said and as I've argued for months now.

You will automatically label *anything* that doesn't tell you what you *want* to hear as a diplomatic answer. Carmack has never been known for diplomacy on this matter. We both know where he stands.

And I was pretty sure you were on the right track even back then when I just lurked and never posted a word.

That wouldn't work, most website want unbiased journalists with integrity.
As long as Microsoft is the one doing it, everything is rosy and dandy in Astro's book.
Everything has it's pluses and minuses, but if Astro were to write an article about something regarding Microsoft, it would only be pluses. :-/

If you seen his posts then you would know that he's unbiased, even back on TXB. Not only that, but Astro doesn't take the Microsoft's side as a fanboy, from what I see, I see him correcting people spreading FUD. He never down played the PS4, he just usually calls people on their bulls*** and gives facts about the X1.

Everyone has a bias, even saint Astro.
I got bias, you got bias, astro got bias, and all website journalists got bias..
I've talked to astro back in TXB-days a time or two..

A good writer on a websites needs to be able to have enough integrity to write about a product objectively without letting your own bias affect you, or admit that you sometimes might be wrong.

Astro don't have that - when he's wrong - he either ignores them, or write half a book until people get tired arguing, or say what he really meant were actually something else, marginally different than what he's just written 20 messages about. :)

Nothing wrong about that if you're a fan - but if you're writer getting paid to write about something - you need to be able to point out the positive aswell as the negative about something. Astro don't do that, in my humble biased opinion.
To me he allways points out bad stuff about Sony and it's products, if it's something about people enjoying the stuff they get on PS+ he's the first to point out you don't actually own the games, unless you keep paying.
Since PS3-launch he's alllways argued that free PS3-online didn't matter much, 360 online were much better, and besides that it were only a matter of time until people have to pay for online play also on PS3, it were impossible for Sony to keep providing free online. But it's still free, half a decade later - you'll never see he say he were wrong about that tough, he will probably claim he were actually right since it will cost money on PS4 tough, even tough we've been argiuing about PS3 all these years. :-/

Astro might be a good writer, for a website as long as it were a fansite, but I don't think his 'articles' would have been informative if it were going to be a website who wanted objective articles.

The stuff you said he points out is all proven correct though isn't it? You don't own the games, Live is better than Plus and yes they have kept Plus free but it sucks. Now that it's finally paid maybe it will improve. I think the word to describe Astro is Objective not biased. But your opinion is just that, your opinion.

In my opinion thread derailed. I hate the wait for these new consoles to come out. We can only discuss so much before people make it personal. How can it dig at people so bad that others don't like what they do? I like MS and my best friend likes Sony. I don't try to convert him he just likes what he likes.

Dunno, people like to argue? like to measure dicks? need to validate their decision? or just like to follow the hype/hate trains?

After seeing what this can do, guarantee MS will update their smart glass app or make a better one to compete with this.

With the average launch lineup of the ps4, sony would've been wiser if they had had just made TLOU a launch game on their next console. Would have added a lot of spark to their launch list.

I can't even play at the moment. Running a 670 and i7 but it won't load properly. I can hear sound, but it just loads forever.

Same specs here and the game runs atrociously. I mean, I went back to BF3 and it looks and runs twice as good. BF4 hates my setup? :(

While it would have been nice to have such a good game to start the console launch it would have been silly to hold it until the PS4 release. Sony probably will have 2M-3M systems out at launch versus the 80M or so PS3 already out there. Let's also remember while people were optimistic about the game doing well, it was a new IP so it wasn't guaranteed to be a success.

What i am surprised they haven't done is have Naughty Dog re-release a PS4 version for launch.

They can't just whip up a PS4 port of a PS3 game.. PS3 exclusives probably have the most obscure code base imaginable as they were coded to fully take advantage of Sony's architecture.

They created TLoU as a late gen cash in and as a good way to launch a series that will sell a sequel next gen once Naughty Dog has a competent engine for the PS4.

TLoU bored me to tears unfortunately so I'm not interested much either. Incredibly flawed game with an overrated story IMO.

Lots of this game traded in already. Kinda surprised because of the reviews and DLC. My guess is it's short with no replay-ability and non exciting DLC.

The Amazon trade in value is still over $33.00 for the standard edition and was released in June. For example GTA5 which was just released is at $30. I wouldn't think the trade-in would be that high if it has alot of trade-ins (unless the demand was thru the roof as well).

The game is in the 12 hours-18 hours window. Single player DLC is not out yet. How re-playable is up to wanting to play multi-player or going thru the story again to find items, use upgraded weapons, etc like many games do.

In my experience when a game is traded in high numbers soon after release it's either 1: not a good game (obviously not in this case) or 2: no replay value.

I am questioning the high numbers you are stating since the amazon trade in value is very high, much less a game 4 months old. I am using Amazon in my comments because they are a large company and its easy to see the trade in values.

The high trade-in totals you mention would appear to be more of an opinion, or a local event than based on the larger third party measure i am mentioning here. If the game was being traded in large numbers nationally to Amazon, then the trade in value would be much lower, like it is for Madden 25 which came out months later.

Mine is based on 8 years experience in the biz. When good games are traded in mass numbers it's because of the two reasons I mentioned. Nothing more, nothing less. Games worth playing 3-6-9 months out after release are worth keeping regardless of its trade value.

Been playing the beta a lot lately forgot how much I like the BF games. To bad the game looks like such ass, makes it hard to really compare it to BF3, seems like there is more destruction in BF4. Anyone know how to take down the skyscraper that houses objective B on its roof? It's been razed a couple of times I've played now, makes the battlefield look even worse, just a "snow" covered foggy mess.

According to Eurogamer, Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition will no nowhere to be see on the Xbox One next gen. If so, how long? PlayStation4 exclusive? Maybe! Stupid rumors.

Warner has confirmed that fighting game Injustice: Gods Among Us is coming to PlayStation 4 - but not Xbox One.

The Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition launches for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Vita, Xbox 360 and PC on 29th November 2013. Microsoft's next-gen console is nowhere to be seen.

Nor is there mention of a Wii U version - despite the original game launching on Nintendo's console.

The Ultimate Edition includes all original game content as well as all DLC, which Warner said is worth £79. The Ultimate Edition's suggested retail price is £50 for PS4, PS3 and Xbox 360, and £30 for PC and Vita.

The DLC includes characters Lobo, Batgirl, General Zod, Martian Manhunter, Zatanna and Mortal Kombat's Scorpion re-imagined by DC chief Jim Lee.

There are also more than 40 extra character skins and 60 S.T.A.R. Labs Missions, originally offered as DLC, now available from the start of the game.

The PS4 port was created by High Voltage, and uses the DualShock 4's Touchpad functionality, the console's video sharing and streaming, and links to players' PlayStation Network Feed page during match wrap-ups and pause menus. High Voltage, maker of The Conduit, also made the PC version.

The Vita version was developed by Armature Studio, creator of the Vita Batman game due out later this year. It has touch controls for mini-games in the story mode and S.T.A.R. Labs Missions, Ad-hoc and Wi-Fi multiplayer, collectible hero cards, and all DLC released to date.

Nice. It's basically like "GOTY Edition" where it includes entire DLC package. I like that. Might pick it up later this year.

This was a fun game for the Wii U. For a few days, then I grew bored of it. The super heros and villains thing wasn't enough to keep me interested in the repetitive gameplay.

Sony probably worked out a deal. I wouldn't be surprised if it release eventually. That said, I'm looking forward to the 360 ultimate version. Wanted to pick this up, but never got around to it.

Survival simulation in non-zombie form, sounds awesome! I love the survival genre of games, it makes for a very interesting game if done right where the outcome on the screen is entirely dependent upon the player.
