As per the title suggests, which site/You Tube channel or other source provide a fair review of games? Where do you go when you need a helping hand/opinion before buying a game?

When I need helping hand I head to twitch to catch a live stream of that game. Somebody always gets the game way before release and streams.

Really not sure how anybody goes by the usual sites like IGN, gamespot, game trailers, etc.

None of the above. I usually ignore the "big" reviews. I'd rather read a thread here about a game and get a bunch of opinions from real gamers, as opposed to someone who's looking for ad revenue and clicks.

In terms of review sites, I typically read/watch Gamespot reviews, sometimes GT. I'll look at GI reviews, too, although I know they often tend to go easy on games. I'll usually try to read/watch three of them, to get a decent picture of what the reviewers are saying. Sometimes there is a random Youtube reviewer in there, but I don't like/follow any one in particular.

I watch gameplay videos, streams, and read impressions, too. It's not an either/or thing for me. I've found Twitch streams really helpful in some cases. A game can sound great on paper, get good reviews and a lot of positive impressions, but if I watch 10 minutes of a stream and feel bored, that will often end it for me.

I just don't trust reviews anymore. I will watch multiple reviews, but I usually go with my gut on what I see from game-play vids. I haven't let myself down yet. They almost always turn out at least as good as I think (I will sometimes even get what looks average, but expect it to be), and I've been pleasantly surprised a few times.

Most of the Gametrailers reviews I've agreed with over the years, so i usually stick with their reviews followed by GameSpot. I usually look at Gamefaqs for game guides or download strategy guides for games I'll be spending a lot of time with.

Yeah I'll watch some Let's Play videos.

I find it strange that people swear by some outlets when more often than not, they all have a variety of writers, who come and go throughout the years.

When I read a review I don't think "Oh God, Gamespot really nailed this one." I think "Peter Brown seems to have some talent."
