But I need them advanced calculus skills to do my min wage factory line job now. Also knowing all about American history and such helps everyone flip them burgers at McDonald s.

Now to hammer the point on how bad the school system is I'm a high school graduate from the US plus I got two years of college in old Canada. I just said f*** school got a GED at 16 as my school was a POS.
 
Common Core might be an experiment, and it might not work, or it might need some tweaking. I don't think people should be so quick to write it off, unless they believe that the education system as it is, is perfect and incapable of improvement. Every step of progress we have ever made in education has been an experiment at some point in time.
