Stunning to see an all time great boxer favored against a non boxer. :meh:

Slightly less absurd than Hulk Hogan v Rocky, but congrats to both on HUGE paydays.

I'm looking forward to what Conner has to say leading up to this. I find him more entertaining out the ring he knows how to sell a fight lol.

Anything to make a buck.

It's happened the other way around too. 40 year old James Toney fought 47 year old Randy Couture (who manhandled Toney), and Ray Mercer smacked down Tim Sylvia.

One thing you notice about these circus matches is that one side (or both) have guys who are past their prime. And sometimes even retired already. But boxing and MMA band together to let them fight.

How about an MMA guy and a boxer of similar class fighting each other, and both are in their prime and champs? None of this retired BS or 40-50 year old guys doing anything to make a last minute buck.

I think Mayweather will win. Boxing is focuses on punches and endurance, so even though McGregor is in his prime and younger, his arsenal of weapons is gimped 90%. However, he is fighting a retired boxer over a decade older, so he gets the edge there.

Mayweather in 3 rounds tops.

Starting to think Mayweather is going to take it easy on him to make it go the distance or even lose in controversy to secure a rematch that would be another big payday.

The only things going against Mayweather is age and he hasn't fought in 2 years. McGregor is in his prime.

That's already dumb enough, but the fight is still allowed.

Never the less, as long as Mayweather isn't too rusty, he should beat McGregor no problem. McGregor lost to lanky Nate Diaz by being outboxed with jabs. And he's not even a pro boxer with power, uppercuts and body blows.

Boxers also use bigger puffier gloves. Mayweather might barely feel McGregor's punches. Boxers have better chins than MMA fighters too.

MMA fights almost never throw body punches, so they aren't used to throwing them or defending them. So McGregor better mix up his arsenal. His instinct is probably to throw head shots all match.

Conor gassed out in that fight which isn't a surprise going up 2 weight classes in just over 1 week.

Rematch he out boxed him with ease.

Not many mma fighters with weak chins. Floyd might not feel much do to the s*** he gets away with injecting into himself...

I hear ya.

Considering the situation and money involved, I wouldn't be surprised if there's some shady crap going on.

Then again, Couture didn't take it lightly vs Toney.

I'm surprised people eat up all the PR stuff fighters do before the fight to draw up drama and ticket sales. It's really r******d stuff. I wouldn't surprised one bit if after the pre-match promos McGregor and Mayweather find a quiet bar somewhere and have a drink and laugh at the money involved.

I'm surprised people want to see this so much. I like MMA fighting (more of a casual fan than a hardcore fan), but didn't care for Couture/Toney and if I couldn't find a free internet stream somewhere would have no interest buying this fight. I'd just wait for the results like any other sport when it's done at 10 pm.

I'm interested to see how this ends up choreographed, but man, these guys look like f***ing idiots when they talk smack. Cringe worthy stuff.

It should be a good fight, even if it only goes 2 rounds. Can't remember a time when i wanted to see both guys get knocked out. Nothing against either of them but when you talk that much trash you kinda want to see them both lose.

I keep getting scheduled recordings added to my Hopper DVR about whatever this nonsense is. When are these goons gonna fight to put an end to the madness?

I wanna see McGregor take the win..think he's gonna corner mayweather so he cant run
, if they go the full 12 rounds, it'll go to may weather

$100 ... is that normal for America?

Nope it's not normal. The last fight that I bought was the Mayweather and Pacquio fight 2 1/2 years ago and it was $75. PPV fights typically cost between $60 to $75. UFC fights are $50 to $60.

No way I'm paying $100 to watch it for myself but I'm ordering it for this weekend. I have a group of friends and their friends coming over to my apartment and I'm charging $10 per head or 12pk of import beer to come watch it.

Definitely not. I don't think I've ever seen a PPV for even $100 CANADIAN.

When Tyson was around 20 years ago, boxing matches were probably $50 CDN.

Since HD feeds came around, Rogers Cable splits pricing into SD and HD. HD feeds might be $80.

But this fight has it at $100 for the HD feed, $95 for SD.

We were going to my girls family's house to watch the fight. With all this rain moving into our area from Harvey just going to stay home. Most likely be a s*** fight anyways.
