Being "serious" is exactly what Floyd did. He CAME at Conor like no one else and he was getting legit counter punched. You can't fake being counter punched. Conor has been making people miss his whole career, Floyd even admitted he was surprised by it.

I'll explain to you the reason this is smart. Floyd knew Conor was dangerous the first few rounds because of his mma fights, he has decent power in his hands, but he has no cardio, especially for boxing. I'm not sure what "being serious" means to you, but being risky is not smart, and floyd isn't dumb, at all.

Conor is a real counter puncher though. If his cardio would have been decent(it was terrible) he would have gone to scorecard and lost, but that would have been a huge blow to boxing.
You must have watched a different fight. He come at conner so he would punch himself out and get tired. Worked like a charm. Conner couldn't even defend himself. This is how all of Mayweather fights go. This felt more like a fake a** pro wrestling match.

I'm repeating what pro boxers are saying. Floyd comes at his opponents? That's how all his fights go? When?

Conor didn't punch himself out lol. Do you even know what that looks like? It has a very specific look, conor could barely move around the ring. There are points at the end where his jab had snap. You're acting like he came out guns blazing, if you've ever watched his MMA fights you'd know he didn't come close to that.

He was even ready for an average paced boxing match.

Floyd couldn't even knock him down with 20 free shots in 9-10th round. How could he do it the beginning?
I saw the fight like others. Mayweather took it easy on him.

Those two fighters milked it to make it a good show.

In between rounds, Mayweather was smiling, giggling, and barely broke a sweat. After the match, you'd think fighters would all be huffing and puffing. Mayweather after round 10 looked like Mayweather after round 1.

He barely tried.

The real deal, from a legend, no one is saying Conor came out guns blazing. He looked half speed as his mma fights. Oh, and not to give Conor some credit is funny when legends are. They're not all lying, the man showed skill. Floyd said it wouldn't last 4 rounds max, in his world, it took him over 2x that long and he literally lost rounds.

Pro boxers disagree. I watched sugar ray just say the opposite.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned it in this thread, so I'm not calling anyone out, but I see mention of Conor not being a boxer, that he's a fighter, MMA, etc. I'm looking into him a bit and he started boxing at age 12 and his primary MMA fighting style is boxing/striking lol. Yea in MMA you need to be more versed in multiple skill sets vs someone like Mayweather that is only a boxer, but it's not like Conor is primarily a ground fighter giving boxing a try. Not trying to diminish what he accomplished (lets be honest he did pretty good considering) but just find it funny about the only excuse I see is Conor isn't a boxer lets see what Mayweather could do in the octagon. An MMA fighting giving boxing a try makes a lot more sense than the opposite.

The level between an elite pro boxer and an amateur is lightyears difference. What sets Connor apart is he's awkward and has good timing. Floyd even said it himself, "he was a lot better than expected, using angles and timing."

"A lot better" speaks volumes coming from the best boxer of all time. Sugar Ray and Evander said the same, both world champion, elite boxers. He's got something special, and cardio isn't it.

That's even better than I thought he did. Man if he would have had awesome cardio it would have been crazy to see this go to the scorecard. Connor would have lost for sure, but crazy.
I wouldn't seeing him stick around with boxing for a while and see how he can improve. He probably should have started a little smaller instead of going straight to the best though lol.

Training a measley 2 months to fight the best in the world is completely insane. I think that was part of Floyd's plan, make the deal and set the date close enough to were they knew he wouldn't be ready. Smart. Connors cardio was pathetic. Even with a full year training he would have lost though.

Most MMA fighters have awful cardio. Some are so bad, they are already gassed after one round. Like closers in baseball, they are trained for short matches running at full octane. But the tank is small.

In boxing, I don't think I've ever seen a fighter dead tired in a few rounds. If the get knocked out, sure they are done, but being gassed from some normal back and forth action, never.

Yeah, it's such a different animal. Your shoulders get so tired in boxing because part of refs job is to keep it going. In MMA, they literally rest on each other if they get tired. Double under hooks and clinch are very lax in terms of the ref breaking it up. You can throw little rabbit punches and that's considered "working" to the ref. Not dogging MMA, its super intense in bursts.

DC vs Jones II made a no contest with DC getting the belt back.

Best out come so far considering Jones is a cheating s***.

Remember when Brock Lesnar got a lecture from Dana White about the UFC not being the WWE. Here we have Conner acting like a fool and all we get is silence.

Conor charged and several fighters have had to be removed from the card. What a s*** show

Yep disgusting. She clearly said she was done at least twice but he pushed her back out.

She needs to dump him right away after that s***. The blood was pouring out.
