Anyone get the battle pass? I'm tempted to but kinda feel like the unlocks will go mostly unused since I only play hardcore.
I got it over the weekend with enough COD points I built up. Good thing now I can keep getting points through each battle pass to get the next one.

Had a good time on Cold War and Alcatraz over the weekend. I’m really getting into my groove in Cold War. Best MP COD in years.

The skill based matchmaking is definitely less strict. I'm running into more competitive lobbies more of the time, but still it feels fair. I still run into lobbies with players who are just terrible. I ran in a room once and heard a shotgun go off behind me. Some guy was camping in the corner, had me dead to rights and completely missed. I'm getting tons of assassinations too.

Something like that just never happened to me in MW as I was up against 180 no scope Kar98 kiddies with instant reactions every match.

It seems like they are doing more lobby balancing than actual skill matching, because there's clearly noobs in my lobbies. I place mines in the most obvious sniper spots and get so many kills. I mean, anyone who camps that annoying sniper room on Miami knows to check for mines, right? I had a guy run there 3 times and die to a mine in the exact same spot.

The battle pass seems pretty thin this season, but if you'll be playing a ton it basically pays for itself. If you are sure you'll play a ton you can get it, but it isn't needed. Seems like most of it is just useless junk.

Double XP for New Year's, but unfortunately not weapon XP which is super disappointing. They really need to speed up the weapon leveling.

Here's a video on the best ways to max out weapon XP. Basically, doing bounties in plunder is statistically best, but playing any game mode is fine. Might as well play what you have fun with. Really would have loved some double weapon XP this weekend.

For anyone who plays Warzone still, there's a bug/feature where Cold War scopes don't show any glint in Warzone (does not impact the main game).

Jgod has a video on it. If you're getting sniped from miles away and not having a clue as to why, that might be it. The MW glint was so easy to spot, so going to having none is a huge issue (and probably a bug). The meta has also been completely taken over by the DMR14 and Mac10.

Not sure if this impacts the bigger CW modes like dirty bomb, but I don't think so.

Either SBMM is broken, or I am going to get the hammer thrown down on me. My stats:

Time played: 1d 10 hours
K/D: 1.6
Win/Loss 1.85

These are easily the best stats I've ever had. I think my best in MW2 was like a 1.5, and that was exploiting the bad netcode. I'm completely running and gunning again. This is all solo play too.

The only thing I do notice is I often get total potatoes for teammates. I've been going on streaks and crushing, only to look at the score and see my teammates going 5-20.

This seems like it might get rid of that janky feel for some matches.

So, now that some of you might've played through the campaign... Is it worth $40-ish ?

Also, maybe a mod could somehow make it clear for everyone that there's a vote on every game so people start voting, would be great to see what the forum thinks of the games

Definitely not worth it for the campaign. Very short and I found it boring. I thought it lacked those epic COD battles.

Damn it. I loved the idea of a cold war setting for this type of game. Are we talking worst campaign in the series bad? I'd play some zombies too. Probably wouldn't mess with the multiplayer too much though.

The "story" was typical Black Ops, this 80s spy stuff. My big problem was that it really lacked a lot of action. There were some stealth elements to it which were... fine? It just felt wrong in a COD game. Basically there's a few main missions and some side story missions, that all combined are a whole lot of cut scenes and not a lot of action. I mean, I didn't hate it, but spending more than $20 on it would be a mistake. There's really only a few hours of content in there. I enjoyed MW even though it was very short. This would just be a big waste for $60-70 without getting into MP.

Zombies is ok, the big issue is that leveling up guns in MP is super slow, so everyone farms XP in zombies (and quits in the later rounds). I've never been a huge zombies fan, and honestly it feels sort of cookie cutter. Either you have competent teammates who do the right thing, or you don't.

Playing that Vietnam scene over and over was just dumb.

I just wish they’d fix all the phuking crashes. It’d be nice to play at least one night without the game crashing out to the dash

Double weapon XP this weekend! About time.

The mid season update drops Thursday too. See you between the buses in Nuketown!

I haven’t played Cold War much lately. We always playing Alcatraz now. They added a solo mode to it I had a 8 kill 2nd place last night.

Sanitorium is awful

That Dirty Bomb mode isn't great for it. People just camp up high and ignore the objective.

That will probably end up being part of the new Warzone map so that will be interesting.

They should at least make that mode duos. 4 people teams with respawn just isn't fun. You take out one team and 2 others are jumping on you.

I haven’t played a CoD in a long time, like over a decade. I bought Cold War because I feel really, really burnt out with long, open-world games. I just want to play something and not be bogged down with having to think.

I am enjoying it. I feel like it’s the most forgiving and approachable Call of Duty. I don’t have much to base this off but getting Eliminations seems generous and the game is very snappy and easy to navigate through the menus.

I haven’t even tried Zombies or the campaign. I’ve never played a Zombies mode in CoD, so I am excited to play this.

Give the new Dropkick mode a try. I normally shy away from team modes, but this is fun and simple enough to play with randos.

It is basically mobile HQ. There's a briefcase, and the team carrying it has to protect the person with it. There's no respawn for that team untll the case is dropped (it moves very fast so there's little downtime).

The game has pretty strict skill based matchmaking, so you'll be put in low skill lobbies for a bit until you get the hang of things. Don't be surprised that as once you get your groove back that you get thrown in harder and harder lobbies.

The remake of Express coming this week. Can't quite remember if I loved or hated this map (probably a bit of both). It is the one with the trains around a station that was pretty unique. Lots of camping or rushing as I remember.
