That makes sense, console players aren't really the problem anyway (Cronus is an issue but they aren't even looking into that so far).

An important thing though, console players should turn on 2 factor authentication. There's a callofduty, com account separate from your Xbox/PS account that can get hacked. Even if you have 2 factor on your actual Xbox/PS account (you should), do the same on the official COD site. I didn't realize that there's a separate account even on console.

My problem is my COD account is probably over a decade old and is tied to an email I no longer have. I just keep logging in with XB Live account to keep my COD account across games.

I have no idea how to access my COD account.

There is the website and app, if I remember right you just put in your XB Live account and it will know all the COD’s you’ve played on that account.
Holy s***, that took forever to get going. I had to download the COD app, the Google authenticator app, add my phone, change my password, enter multiple verification codes. And give them my next born child.

It is a pain, but it is worth it. People do try and steal these accounts, and lots of people don't realize there's a separate account behind it. I had someone try to get into my UBIsoft account awhile back (fortunately I had nothing in there).

It sucks, but a necessary evil in today's world. Turn 2 factor on with everything. You can play just fine on your existing console without being prompted again.

Anyway, I am going to regret it, but I pre-ordered the game. Actually going PC this time instead of Xbox. I haven't played a PC COD game since before COD4 so it should be fun (can always plug in a controller).

What's funny is the common complaint is that controller aim assist is so good that it gives an advantage, but honestly I get wrecked by mouse players, and seem to do much better on it.

Well I have 2 factor on now!

A podcast I listen to the two hosts who also pay on PC with kb & mouse also b**** about controller players and aim assist. F*** that I’ve always felt since crossplay started those with higher frames and on kb & mouse have the advantage.

Yeah, in certain situations, say where two people run right into each other, the aim assist can be huge. Every now and then it just snaps and insta kills someone. That's not the norm though. At any kind of range, the mouse dominates. Most of MW2 combat is going to be at range.

At least in WZ1, aim assist doesn't exist beyond 200 meters and falls way off. Sure, up close people can pull off some quick shots, but mostly I'd rather have the mouse.

You see those videos where the aim "follows" the player, yet they never pull the trigger and see that most of those shots would still miss without manual input.

What PC players are really seeing is SBMM and cronus users. They are only getting matched with the really good controller players. A top tier controller player can be nasty to play against, but most of us are fighting the aim assist as much as being helped by it.

It isn't like Halo Infinite where the aim assist is crazy strong and most combat is well within the ideal range for it.

What pisses me off at times about aim assist is if I have someone lined up in my sights and another enemy happens run through my sights, it pulls my weapon away from the one I was lined up on.

Campaign is this Thursday if you preorder. I do like that they give us a week to finish the SP without having to worry about MP right away.

I'm quite torn about which platform to get it on. I encounter cheaters frequently in COD BLOPS2 on PC. However, I just report/block and move on. Would be nice to not have to deal with them to begin with, but the trade-off would be to play on Xbox and lesser graphical performance. Bah.

My 2 cents:

The COD anti-cheat actually seems as good or better than most, and it is actually launching with the game day 1. While no game will ever be cheat free, they should keep it down to reasonable levels. I remember the original MW2 launching and people were literally wallhacking and aimbotting on launch day, hours after launch.

Console is not the "cheat free" environment anymore. It definitely used to be. Consoles have a lot of Cronus users which give players mouse + kb, but also controller aim assist, and also no recoil scripts (ever run into someone running an off meta gun with tons of recoil, beaming people across the map?). These hardware devices aren't even officially considered cheating by MS/Sony or even Activision (yet). They are supposedly hard to detect, although Fortnite of all games is cracking down on them. My guess is that we see a lot more Cronus users than actual PC hackers anymore. (PC can use cronus too of course)

Unless you're turning crossplay off, you're going to play them all anyway. Turning off crossplay on Xbox seems to cause some weird issues with matchmaking for me with the SBMM (end up getting tons of lag).

I'm going PC for the first time in a lot of years. I figure may as well get the best performance. Cheating happens all over and with crossplay it doesn't matter.

Not sure where people find the time to hack and cheat games. Sounds like a massive waste of time. Not only that, there is no satisfaction in winning when you cheat.

Cheaters are really weird and have weird motivations. Some just want the challenge of "hacking" the game and getting around anti-cheat. Some of them feel like they are entitled to every camo and unlock right away, so they'll hack to get all those done fast.

For Warzone especially, they feel entitled to wins. Most of us wouldn't feel any satisfaction from a cheating win, but they do.

Others just treat it like a "glitch" play in a sports game, where if you aren't using it, you aren't doing everything to win.

It is a weird group of people when you dig into it. I used to hang out on cheater forums way back in the day and you'd be amazed, but most of it comes down to entitlement.

When they do get banned, they genuinely feel like they were wronged, and not the other way around.

It is terrible dude come on. It was hacked before it even went live, lol. Warzone is still plagued by cheaters.

Oh!!! And anybody who thinks the phone number requirement will prevent cheating, well.... Just look at Overwatch 2.

Cheating will always be in online shooters I’ve learned to accept it. SBMM we should not accept and b**** at them for keeping it. But hey they don’t listen to their consumers lol.

I guess I never have really played the game long enough in the past 10 years to notice cheating. Maybe it’s because I’m a camper and I never pay much attention to the leaderboard after the game ends.

Skill based matchmaking definitely factors into it. The people who are cheating ultimately end up in the lobbies with the real high skilled players. I rarely see weird stuff in 6v6, although sometimes people just seem to always know where I am sometimes.

They are more noticeable in Warzone where the SBMM can't do as much. I see so many questionable things in WZ over the years. I'd hide in some randon tiny building with other similar buildings around (not a main area) and someone would hyper focus on the door I was hiding behind, walking past each and every other one. Now, maybe they had a heartbeat sensor up (didn't see one in the kill cam), or maybe they just spotted me (I was in there a bit so it seems unlikely). They come in and instantly pick the corner I'm in and kill me.

Installing now. I just chose the default portion of the game. I don’t know what all these content packs are for.

That sadly seems to be what it takes to make an AAA single and multiplayer game with some live service elements. I think you have to throw an alphabet soup of devs at a game to get the content people expect. It is kind of crazy all the modes that are eventually coming to this game.
