I hope they don’t go that route with MW. I like the way they handled WW2 and BO4. Yes you can spend money but you can unlock the stuff from just playing and you never feel at a disadvantage.

Yes a sight that is n improvement that you could only get by spending real money would be pay to win. Most of the sights I would consider cosmetic in the CoD games because they look dumb and are just for show. I always use regular with different colors. That is not the case with CoD yet.
It is activision. They dipped their toe in water and found it to be Ok. Really wouldn't surprise me if they sold this stuff and then hid it behind extreme grinds for non payers.

A good example of something appearing cosmetic but is actually game impacting is 2 R99 skins in Apex Legends. The 2 skins change the Iron sights on the weapon, and it is much better imo. Upuntil season 2 you would have to be extremly lucky to get one of those skins without paying, but even in season 2 you wou'd have to buy the battlepass.

They seem to be doing everything right with this upcoming CoD. Must be trying to win back fans and pull people from other shooters. If it also had their next iteration of Blackout mode that would have been awesome.

This is starting to become my most anticipated game I’m getting hyped!

I've seen videos of that 2v2 mode and it looks like a lot of fun.

Played some 2v2 with the alpha on PS4. I wanted to hate it and not want to buy it, but that didn't happen. It is super addictive just for the small mode. It actually makes COD better. Instead of 5-6 people running around like crazy there's a little strategy to it, but of course it is still all about the gunplay.

One round might be snipers, the next shotguns.

I played the open beta (some of the bigger 6v6 and 10v10 maps) and I was not impressed. All the youtubers gushing over the game is... questionable to say the least. The spawns are nonsense, which makes any kind of tactical play pointless.

The bigger maps just don't improve things. You just get people constantly spawning behind you. You end up running around longer only to die to someone who just spawned in a room you cleared. If you were thinking more of the old COD4 style single choke point and more structured battles... this wasn't that, at least right now.

You can also go prone in some rubble and just farm kills and ignore objectives.

Maybe I just got over-hyped. I heard youtubers that are big in the R6 community loving this game and got pumped. I was let down. The most fun I had was on the standard 6v6. Strangely enough, that mode works best for COD. At least you have constant action and less camping.

The more players you add, the worst it gets. 2v2 was fun, 6v6 was ok. More than that? It just gets more campy and spawn trap-ish.

Anyway I think next weekend is Xbox and PC open beta. I definitely recommend trying it and not reading some of the hype.

That’s exactly what I am looking for! I am going to give it a buy!
The problem is the spawns. People will spawn right behind you on a very regular basis, even on the larger maps.

It is like the more people you add to the COD formula, the less fun it becomes.

I would like to see what others think about it. One warning - the default starter guns with no attachments are absolutely terrible. Pick anything up off the ground you find that might be an improvement. I didn't play until Sunday and everyone had power leveled the shortened progression and had way better guns.

Is there a delay when you spawn giving you a chance to defend yourself?

It didn't seem like it. Granted I didn't really know the maps, but they were pretty simple layouts. I'm pretty sure people were just constantly flanking around the sides. I kept dying to the same people who seemed to know the spawns. I would say most of my deaths were from people I never saw, which wasn't very fun.

The problem is I would spawn and I would instantly do a 180 and often be in a fight. Other times I would do the same and not see anyone but teammates. So, do I camp and possibly be bored or do I just go and hope to not get spawned on? Neither seemed fun.

Obviously there might be some things to learn on the maps, but again the layouts were pretty simple for the most part. It wasn't hard for me to figure out the flank routes and get in behind the enemy spawns. I would say most of my kills and deaths were from behind. Even staying to the edges, there's a lot of 2nd floors and little rooms to hide in.

I guess I went in expecting more of a Battlefield controlled chaos, but really it was just a bigger, less fun version of COD. I had the most fun just playing the smaller 6v6.

The spawns in WW2 and BO4 were also terrible. Not surprised there. Its been awhile since I’ve seen a COD have a good spawn system. Constantly getting shot in your back.

Will try out the XBox open beta this weekend. Looking forward to checking it out.
The #1 tip is get a few guns unlocked right away, and pick up anything off the ground you find.

The default guns come with few attachments and are awful. You'll quickly run into people with a holo sight and recoil reducing attachments who will just shred you. Obviously the progression is greatly accelerated so you can get a level per round or more early on.

The default guns are either the Famas with burst fire which is ok, but then there's an Aug which has nasty recoil and is pretty terrible at any kind of range (which most of the maps have). Go with the Famas on any bigger maps. The Aug is just awful and you'll be outgunned all the time by anyone with something better.

I made the mistake of not jumping on until Sunday and it wasn't pretty. You can pick up guns off the ground and anything I grabbed was way better.

Also remember the movie Hunt For Red October. "Crazy Ivan!" Check your tail every time you spawn. You will spawn directly in people's sights.

I'm probably going to try it again just to see if my initial reaction was too negative.

Finally got my #ModernWafare beta key & played a handful of matches. It is undoubtedly "Call of Duty." Fast, sudden gunfights, w/ deaths that will leave you frustrated, but kills that give you that super satisfied feeling that only COD can deliver. Can't wait to play w/ friends.

Just a total camp fest in objective modes. Everyone just camps for kills and ignores objectives. Every time I died it was to someone prone in a dark corner two buildings away who's aim never moved. Snipers are super noob friendly. Bullet drop doesn't matter because the maps aren't big enough to matter.

The idea of no enemies on the mini map seemed like a more hardcore idea, but all it does is promote camping. Flank around to the back of the enemy spawn and set up a tent. Get a couple of kills, move and repeat.

Definite no-buy for me. I liked the idea of COD growing up and getting a little more tactical, but they've failed horribly at it.

Played a bunch this morning. Gameplay is good I like it. Played Headquarters a lot that was my favorite mode on the old games. Only thing I don’t like is the spawns. They can be s*** sometimes.

Game is fun with friends.
