Call of Duty: Modern Warfare/Warzone - shutting down September

I've always hated the 3 flag game mode in any game. Most people just play it to farm kills, and those actually trying to win just endlessly flip the spawns, thinking they are "doing well".

As someone who always plays team deathmatch in these games, TDM is in a bad state, so I bet you're getting a lot of people who want to play TDM, but are moving to objective modes to farm kills.

The whole problem is compounded by the XP problem. You need lots of XP to unlock attachments on guns and also get stuff from the battle pass. The issue is that if you play TDM on a large map, you're going to get way, way less XP even if you have a good score. If you jump into Dom and farm kills off B flag, you'll get tons more XP. On top of that, some of the bigger maps are just boring and poorly designed. Playing TDM on Azhir Cave or Piccadilly is just painfully boring.
Yea I haven't spent much time in TDM on this game, or really any previous CODs unless you want to include Kill Confirmed. Even that mode seems worthless. People not even bothering going for tags because it's too dangerous so games take forever. Again score streak on this would work better.

I love TDM, only because I don't want to play objectives. It is more slower paced and your k/d does matter. Unfortunately half the people playing Dom have my mentality and play the wrong mode.

Anyway, double weapon XP this weekend. Might be worth grinding out some gun attachments. Some of the higher level weapon attachments are just nuts. I got something on my M4 that basically removes all recoil.

I pretty much only play kill confirmed and TDM. Need to try out ground war still, though.

If I use 2x xp token will it stack with the 2x weekend to give 4x weapon xp?

I've had the game since launch and only played 1 game of ground war. With all the new modes, I spend most of my time in the usual 6v6. Gunfight is really cool. 2 on 2 duels with set loadouts.

I don't believe the XP stacks, but I'm not sure. I think you'd just get 2xp for regular XP and 2xp weapons. Probably better off to save them for when there's no double XP.

What sucks is those XP tokens start counting down while waiting for a game, so much of the time burns off waiting for lobbies to start.

I think it does work. I just went from 53 to 59 in 21/2 matches.

Yeah tokens should only count in match time.

Cross play is something that needs to be put in a ton of these games. It would be really nice in older games to keep the populations up a little higher.

My only complaint is I would like a console only option, although for whatever reason I rarely get matched against PC players and never anyone not on a controller, so that's not too bad.

I don't want to play PC players at all, way too many cheaters on that platform.

Started playing this game a bit more after I bought it like a month ago and didn't touch it. It's amazing how much better I am after the first few games I was playing where I was going like 5-20. Was getting consistent 12-5 type games after that.

Still a noob though, but I'm getting better!

You can't judge your personal play like that as the skill based matchmaking is very strong and makes changes based on as few as your last 3 games.

What I see is a ping pong bouncing between harder lobbies and more normal ones. If you get hit like many of us do, your 12-5 games won't last. Don't be surprised if you're score is very different every few rounds. It can be a really frustrating system.

Yep.

Sunday had 5 or 6 games in a row where i got a 4 to 6.0K/D, then I took a 10 minute break and the next 3 or 4 games I only got like 0.8 K/D. That is way too big a swing.

Exactly. It can happen with as few as 3 games. The real issue is - maybe I'm playing "angry" and making dumb decisions, or maybe the SBMM just decided to throw me into a higher tier. There's no way to know. They at least need to be transparent with the tiers, so if I go .8 k/d, at least I'd know I'm in a higher skill bracket and that is "good".

You can also reverse boost, either on purpose or accidentally. I got frustrated in Shipment, so I grabbed a riot shield and ran around mashing people. I went super negative most of the time. Suddenly now I'm in games against much lower skilled players. I switch to my M4 or Aug and I'm wrecking people, then I get bumped back up. I didn't mean to reverse boost, but I did anyway.

LOL I tended to notice this last night. I'd have a few very good games then it turned into terrible games afterwards, and then back to good/decent. Funny seeing a level 8 player up against mostly 40+ players. Either way, I'm still having a lot of fun with this game, and it's the first COD I've played since Black Ops 2 I think. Hit level 11 last night, need to keep grinding.

A couple Q's from a noob...

Can someone explain to me what I'm missing with not getting Battlepass? I'm thinking about picking up the $10 version, but don't want to if the season is going to end soon.

And is it just me or is there way too much customization involved in this game? It's almost overwhelming tbh. Keep thinking the loadouts will be MW1 style, but there's so much extra stuff involved it's crazy...Any recommended builds I should be looking out for?

Thx

Yeah, what's funny is that when I'm having tough rounds and getting less than 1 k/d, that's usually when I'm playing well. There's no real way to tell though.

The battlepass isn't really worth it unless you play a whole ton. Leveling it up is actually fairly tedious. Even over the holidays with double XP and Shoot the Ship, the XP grind was still fairly slow. If you play a ton you can actually get CP coins and pay for the next pass, but good luck playing that much to get it done. I paid to get to 30 something in advance, and I'm only 50 now, that's with having nearly two weeks off at the holidays.

The customization can be overwhelming. The thing is, find out what attachments work for you. There's tons of Youtube guides out there, but those typically favor very good players who want a very fast run and gun style. Most of us normal people get wrecked. I like minimizing recoil personally and don't worry as much about aim down sight speed. I'm usually pre-aiming corners anyway. There's guides on what each stat means, but things like "aiming stability" sounds super important but is really just a tiny bit of idle sway. It isn't really worth upgrading IMHO. Things like aim down sight speed are super important, but a negative modifer to it might only mean 1 frame out of 60fps which is barely even perceptible by average players. However if you have 3-4 negative modifiers to aim down sight speed, that's going to impact you. The early attachments tend to have a very minor impact while later on you can get some really good ones (like silencers that keep you off the indicator and increase your damage, which is kind of insane).

You want to pay attention to your battles and see where you are missing shots. Are you hitting your first shot but is recoil messing with follow up shots? That's where recoil reduction is big. Are you aiming too slowly and getting killed before you get your shot off? That's where you focus on aim down sight speed.

The M4 is still a great gun to use in many situations (the Kilo is actually very similar now too). Other guns work great, but those are your bread and butter guns. SMGs are obviously very good up close, but it comes down to playstyle. MP5 is beastly once you get the higher upgrades. Aug is really underrated.

You know if you're playing angry.I do agree on more transparacy.

With how quickly it changes I'm surprised reverse boosting hasn't killed the game

As a fellow new player I would say pick a gun and just get it to max level. Then just play about with builds and see what sticks.

As for attlepass, I saw nothing worth buying it for.

Assault go Kilo till you unlock FR (Famas) for smaller maps go MP5. Attachments is up to you. I use the ones that help accuracy, recoil, stability.

This guy actually has some good (albeit long) videos explaining what the stats actually do. But basically damage increase and recoil control are best, unless you are a real run and gunner, then you want aim down sight speed and sprint to fire speed.

I know on the M4 I use the M16 barrel that increases damage and everything else goes to recoil control. Some guns have a suppressor option that gives you the benefit of the silencer plus makes the gun's stats better, which is really counter-intuitive (and very good obviously).

I'm finding that ADS speed + recoil control control works best for me. ADS speed on AR is a must imo.

I've been using the Kilo lately. Didn't spent much time with it outside of the early game, but with the 2XP I got it leveled up quite a bit and it's really good. ADS I have pretty high so even close quarters I'm pretty good coming out of a sprint and beating others. Of course that also requires the game to be in my favor at that time. If it's not then I usually switch to the AUG or MP5, especially on smaller maps. I will find playing this game while close to drunk makes it a lot more fun, at least in the way that I don't rage as much when the game is running like complete garb.

With games like COD I always had a three beer max, because after that my reaction times are slowed too much to play well. Games like Rocket League and others are where I shine after a few.

Kilo is really underrated (and has been since launch). Ever since the M4 got nerfed, both guns are pretty equal and both really, really good. You can't go wrong with either one as your main gun.

I have unlocked both the 50 and 60 round mag in it. The default 30 seems to go in a hurry but the other mags add slowdown to ADS so not sure what to do. Probably couldn't even really tell on the ADS changes.

Yeah that's the funny thing with ADS. One attachment giving a negative to ADS speed might actually only add 1 frame extra delay. For a game running at 60fps, that's pretty minor except for really fast players. Where you really run into issues is if you stack a couple of negative modifiers. Get 2-3 attachments that all hurt ADS speed and now you'll feel slower.

Usually once you unlock more you can get some balance. There's usually a grip that improves ADS speed that you can use to counter something else. You can even use the perk slight of hand which makes your reloads faster. The customization options are really extensive.

A lot of it comes down to playstyle too. If you are much more aggressive and running and gunning, ADS is a lot more important. For me, I'm usually pre-aiming corners and such so I don't mind it as much. You can really change your assault rifle to hit harder and be a bit slower, or turn it almost into an SMG. It is the one thing that keeps me coming back to the game. Two people can use the same gun and have wildly different attachments on it.

I find lower ADS doesn’t bother me. I like having better accuracy and control with my attachments.
I guess it depends how you play. I'm more an allrounder and sit in between the camper and rusher playstyles.

Smaller maps I can still move and aim quickly I just don’t feel I’m losing fights because of it. Plus I’ll aim as I’m hitting a corner often. Bigger maps I don’t move as fast and pick my spots.
