Call of Duty: Modern Warfare/Warzone - shutting down September

People seem to like the way this is done. Personally, I think it's excellent. You can level up and unlock seasonal content now if you want.

Yeah I have an Acti account although I'm not 100% sure what the ID is. Try 'dvant' ?
I assume you made the account when you first played the game? If so the info i need should be above your rank progress bar and should be your gamer tag plus a bunch of numbers. You can see it in your acti account profile in the basic info section aswell.

Mine is GTi_Stewey#3378988

No, I already had an existing Acti account when I fired it up. Something I must have created ages ago. I'll see if I can add you.

Interesting video on skill based matchmaking, although I think it skips over a few key data points (shipment messing with everyone's stats, and I think that the algorithm factors in shooting reaction time and accuracy as well but I don't know for sure). I also don't think the system could use k/d when it has such a big impact on that stat. My guess is that it measures how quickly and accurately you can shoot, which is why even if you just got the game, you end up in good lobbies.

It is also a clickbait title (SBMM was not reduced), but it shows that you are likely ending up in a lobby with an overall k/d greater than 1 which is why the system is so strong.

Shipment is so bad. Really don't get how these things actually release.

I'm just hoping that 200 player battle royale rumour is true.

Viktor game is a blast with a full group lol.
Yea for sure. Game actually felt really good for me overall last night. Last match was a bit sketchy but I may have just been half asleep by that point. Most of my time with this game has been with MW though and it's at least 50/50 bad connection. I'm beginning to think he might have Walmart Internet.

I wonder if geography plays a roll as well. Most of the people I play with are Texas area and then we have some that live on the East coast. I also think maybe it has to do with party leader.

That's what I would think, but I'm in Dubuque IA and MW is in Wisconsin so the two of us should have good connections. But last night felt great. A lot of times this game feels like shoot first die first, but last night it was flipped and it felt like most of the matches I could get the drop on people. My biggest issue is potato aim from long distances.

You may just be bouncing in between higher skill tier lobbies. That's what happens to me. I end up going against players who are at my skill or even below, then have a few good games and get put in with people who can snap headshot me.

I always play solo though, so that might be part of it. My connection feels really good overall, way better than many other games. There's always a little weird lag here or there but nothing out of the ordinary. When I get destroyed it is because I am up against people who can jump round a corner and headshot me.

My friend's son is one of these kids who's super-human with a controller. He gets accused of cheating all the time he's so good, but he's using a vanilla Xbox controller. We've played Battlefield with him and all we do is spawn as support and medic and feed him ammo and health and he headshots everyone. There are the kinds of people I end up in a lobby with.

Accepted it last night. Now we just need to see if it actually works.

I’ll be back home tomorrow. We can give it a shot then. I never see any PS4 icons when I have cross played enabled. Just PC and Xbox icons.

PS4 icons look like monitors, PC icons look like PC towers. Well PC icons look like Xbox Series X

You only see your platform's logo, the competing console looks like a TV screen. PC looks like a vertical tower.

Sounds good.

I'm warning you now, though..._i'm proper crap at this game. Makes me feel old with my old man reaction time.

Yea I don't know why the difference in symbols. If you're on PC, other PC people have the Blizzard logo instead of a PC tower. Either way when it first came out I figured all the PS4 icons were actually PC and it seemed odd so many on PC were using controller lol.

if you play this like old COD, you’ll suck. If you play this like new COD, you’ll rock it. Fact.

Grind is great. I just camp one of the banks. Easy kills.
That one guy last night killed like 2 feet from the bank and was carrying about 10 tags. Then the game flipped and s*** itself.

This is my main gripe with skill based matchmaking. You have no way to know if you are improving or getting worse. It actually works out in reverse. If you have 3-5 good rounds, you'll end up in tougher lobbies against higher skilled players. So, if you're getting thumped by good players, you're probably actually playing "well".

My stats have been falling so now I am in much easier lobbies and suddenly I'm going very positive in almost every round. The game decided that I've been beaten down enough. What's funny is it feels better but I'm probably playing worse.

The reality too is that when players are almost at the identical skill level, it often comes down to the camper winning. The person already aiming is going to win that fight much of the time, which is why you see so much camping. If there was a larger skill gap, you could outplay a camper.

COD has always been full of campers...And pre aiming was aways the best way too. Only difference now is map design. The maps now create far more angles.

I haven't played much CoD since Blops 3 but I don't remember it this bad. I feel like objective modes are worthless now, especially with killstreaks. Dom for instance if you're smart, you only take two control points and leave the last to the other team, because if you take it, spawns will probably flip. It makes the game boring but it is what it is. So now people get B and just camp it to control. With the flaky ass netcode and insane TTK, good luck not only seeing the enemy fast enough, but being able to aim while they're already ADS on the corner. Meanwhile they're racking up VTOLs and Chopper Gunners so now there's another 10 kills for free. Game rewards you for kills and not objectives, so now the attackers getting camped to hell and back can't get any killstreaks to help counter. Just have to get lucky you can overwhelm the other team at one point to finally take it, but good luck doing that in pubs. If you get matched up against a stacked team well might as well just back out.

I've always hated the 3 flag game mode in any game. Most people just play it to farm kills, and those actually trying to win just endlessly flip the spawns, thinking they are "doing well".

As someone who always plays team deathmatch in these games, TDM is in a bad state, so I bet you're getting a lot of people who want to play TDM, but are moving to objective modes to farm kills.

The whole problem is compounded by the XP problem. You need lots of XP to unlock attachments on guns and also get stuff from the battle pass. The issue is that if you play TDM on a large map, you're going to get way, way less XP even if you have a good score. If you jump into Dom and farm kills off B flag, you'll get tons more XP. On top of that, some of the bigger maps are just boring and poorly designed. Playing TDM on Azhir Cave or Piccadilly is just painfully boring.

Which is why killl streaks should have been replaced with a smart score streak system a decade ago.
