Celebrity Death Topic

Dolores O'Riordan, the lead singer of Irish rock band The Cranberries, has died in London at the age of 46.

Damn. She had a beautiful voice. I liked their first and second albums (the fact that I'm half Irish helped), but I lost track of them after that.

I read she had "ill health related to back problems," and that she had been diagnosed with bipolar in 2014. So I suspect that drugs were involved, either intentionally or unintentionally. I don't know that for a fact. Her death is currently unexplained. But 46 is awfully young to go from natural causes.

Yeah I’m betting OD or suicide. The lack of details at this point is also highly suspect, and makes me think more suicide. Women are more likely to use pills for suicide anyways, so I’m guessing she OD’d on purpose.

I'd guess accidental OD, myself. That's how most people who die of opiate overdose go -- accidentally, by using too much and combining them with alcohol or other meds.

David Ogden Stiers of MASH fame.

It was even rumoured that one of the politically outspoken scientist's great regrets was that he never got a chance to run over the toes of Conservative prime minister Margaret Thatcher.

Hawking, it has to be said, denied these allegations - albeit fairly unconvincingly.

"A malicious rumour," he told Ferguson. "I'll run over anyone who repeats it."

RIP Art Bell

I first listened to Coast to Coast AM during a late shift job I had and then later on when I became a truck driver often driving late into the night. What I liked about Art is he seemed to invite his listeners to wonder at the unknown. I think today to many people including his successor George Noory have gone beyond that into a 'Jump to Conclusions' view.
