Christian Bale will star as late Apple CEO Steve Jobs in the upcoming biopic from director Danny Boyle. Screenwriter Aaron Sorkin confirmed the decision in an upcoming interview with Bloomberg Television today, adding that the Oscar-winning actor didn't even have to audition for the role.

"We needed the best actor on the board in a certain age range and that’s Chris Bale," Sorkin said. "He didn’t have to audition. Well, there was a meeting."

Maybe its because I'm not a member of the cult of Apple, but I don't get why they need to continue to make movies about the guy. They just made one starring Ashton Kutcher which bombed. I thought Noah Wiley did a pretty decent job in Pirates of Silicon Valley back in the day. I don't see how much more needs to be added.

Got to try to generate positive Apple hype because their phones are bending?

There's a WORLD of difference between the production of Kutcher's movie and the one Sorkin and Bale are behind. I've never seen Pirates of Silicon Valley though.

Pirates of Silicon Valley was a mini-series back in the very late nineties. It focused on both the Microsoft and Apple founders. Anthony Michael Hall (16 candles, Family Vacation, Breakfast Club) played Bill Gates and Noah Wiley (ER, Falling Skies) played Steve Jobs. It didn't paint a very flattering picture of either of the guys. Steve Jobs was portrayed as a narcissistic a****** primadona and Gates is portrayed as a shady scumbag dork.

back in the day the press portrayed them both as conniving a******s. taking other peoples ideas and making money out of them. whether true or not, they have earned a lot of respect since then.
on topic, i think Christian is the right person for the jobs and any other actor would bale in comparison.
