Companies And People being Terrible - Job Layoffs, Down Playing Employees

Signed up with Verizon MORE than six months ago. They had a deal for $500 gift card. The deal was to keep service for six months and than can be cancelled. Changed providers, Vision, which is a Verizon company, unfortunately. Was lied to by Verizon the last three months about a credit I was supposed to get. I disconnected service as a result and got a $463 bill out of nowhere because Verizon lied again about the rebate offer. And to top it off, tried to pay the $463 through website and was giving me errors. So I called to pay the bill and received an email on the phone and it said there is a $10 agent fee. Agent said it was a place holder and won't be charged. Got an email of the charge from my credit card company when we hung up. I called back and the new agent said nothing can be done and laughed at me. Nothing but liars.

Sony probably isn't far behind.
They’ve been doing it for a while…

Old….

This is not the norm. Layoffs only should be happening IF a company is in dire straights and use it as a cost cutting measure. Cash reserves in a SOUND business are supposed to be used to help keep the business afloat in turbulent times Etc. This is not how things are normally done.

Yep, the mass consolidations happening across various industries is triggering this kind of stuff. And more and more workers just become a % of workforce that mega corps can just flick off their backs. this Is why having diverse amounts of businesses is way healthier in terms of industry than these top heavy behemoths where now you have an accumulating number of workers who may find themselves shut out of whole industries.
