Consumer Reports names LG G6 the best flagship TV of 2016

I'm confused now. Val just said his TV (well he hasn't produced a picture but we'll give him benefit of the doubt) was the best TV of 2016.

And what about those $10,000+ TV's? Surely they have something worth bragging about for their price?

"For that reason, we're tapping the Samsung KS9800 as the better choice for most viewers. It also had the best HD-to-UHD upconversion of any of the sets, and though it might be hard to consider a $3,500 TV a bargain, it's considerably less expensive than either of the other two sets."

Looks like my set wins in some regards! :tounge:

Not sure but Sony TVs are behind their competitors and still over priced.

Don't ever believe anything that Val ever says, he bends the truth to benefit himself.

Have seen the B6 in person numerous times, and also the KS9000 with proper sources, both are younger brothers of the ones in the link, minus the curve in the Samsung, and there's zero benefit to go more than those unless you're just selecting a bigger screen size. Absolutely none other than "look at how much I spent."

False. The KS9000 is edge-lit and the KS9800 is full array. Big difference on multiple levels and to call it "zero benefit" is FUD.

Yeah I have the C6 which is like the B6 but adds 3D and has a slight curve. PQ is just as good as the G6 for a lot less money.

You get to brag about how much you spent. That's it.

I'm not bragging about spending the extra coin. But the difference is significant despite PV's FUD.
You bought a $6000 tv. Of course you are going to justify it in your own head. You have to.

One of these days I'm going to bite the bullet and get one.

2017 will be a good year to get one, the B6 and C6 were $2000 for the 55" in November. Most likely you will be able to get a 55" for under $1800, maybe cheaper if the Sony OLED rumors are true.

My set is a Samsung KS9800 which was $3,000 on Black Friday. I hardly broke my bank for it, lol.

I need a 60in at the very minimum. I am excited for them to come down a bit in price though

News Flash - I hands-free ejaculated tonight just watching an off channel comprised entirely of white noise on my bad-ass TV because the picture looks that damn good.

Thank you Union for allowing me to continually brag about how much I love my pricey TV that few here will own, especially Kassen.

/sarcasm, just indulge me. :laugh::crazy::grin:

Seriously though, I still am blown away every time I turn this sucker on. I didn't expect there to be this much happiness going from a pretty good 52" 1080p Samsung to a really great 65" 4K Samsung. #honestinjun

Looking at LG now. They have a 60" LED (7700) for $1099 now. That's 10" more than my current plasma and will fit just right. 65" would be a bit too big for current setup. Found a new 4k receiver as well for $4-500 so both items just a little more than what I paid just for my plasma. Need to stop being lazy and do my taxes just to make sure I'm not getting boned but I'm close to pulling the trigger.

Ok maybe I go with the 55" B6 OLED instead since it is only $1999 now. LG says promotional pricing but I'd imagine with 2017 models coming out that would be about the going rate from now on?

Yeah if your coming from plasma, OLED is even better. I can't do LCD TVs. I have the 55" C6 it is amazing. Owned a Panasonic VT50 before that.

Well I'm going to go tomorrow and take a look. Think right now I'm between the B6, LG's 7700, or the Sony 850d. Might try to play the lottery with one of the LEDs and see if I can get one without big light bleed issues. As long as I don't have stupid light cones in the corner the absolute black isn't a huge thing for me. Just want uniformity.

Well? Keep us in the loop what happened?

Nothing yet lol. Took a look at all three as well as throwing in the Samsung KS8000, which I initially ruled out because of my past issues with Samsung. Reviews for it compared to the Sony 850d and LG 7700 put it in the running though.

Yea I hear you. It's not as big of an issue for me when it comes to black levels, it's the uniformity and color bleed. In that case the B6 will most likely be the one I go with if I do decide on a TV now. That said, I missed out on their online $150 gift card or in store $200 additional as they only went through yesterday. The TV is still only $1999 right now so I'm guessing that will end up being the regular price until 2017 models are here. If I can ignore the issues with my plasma I kind of want to wait for the 2017 model as well as Sony's OLED offerings, although pricing looks to be even higher than LG.
