Remedy’s ‘P7’ Gets a New Name, ‘Control,’ And a New Trailer
By Stefanie Fogel

Remedy Entertainment’s next project is officially called “Control,” Sony revealed Monday night during its E3 2018 press conference.

Originally codenamed “P7,” it’s a new cinematic third-person action game from the “Alan Wake” and “Quantum Break” studio. It promises long-lasting, story-centric gameplay and the deepest game mechanics yet in a Remedy title.

“Control’s” plot focuses on a young woman named Jesse Faden and her search for answers after she takes on the role of the Director, according to the game’s official website. “The world of ‘Control’ has its own story, as do the allies Jesse meets along the way. Side-quests and secrets are everywhere. Jesse works with other Bureau agents, decodes cryptic ciphers and discovers strange Bureau experiments.” The combat system is flexible, Remedy said, and players can define their playstyle through supernatural abilities, upgrades, and modifiable loadouts.

In its 2017 financial statement, the studio said the game will be published by 505 Games and it has “progressed according to our plans.” It’s coming to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One sometime in 2019.

When it first came up I was like "This looks like something else" then it said Remedy lol, didn't look bad or anything just very familiar.

It looks cool. I thought it was QB2. It's good that they're working on their game mechanics, making it deeper. I thought that's one area where QB could've been better.

The game is Xbox One X enhanced.

505 didn't comment if the Pro is getting enhanced.

Today, Remedy Entertainment showed a gameplay trailer of Control at the PlayStation E3 2018 event. The game uses the same engine as Quantum Break and is coming to Xbox One, PC, and PlayStation 4 next year. 505 Games confirmed that the title will be enhanced for Xbox One X. It's unclear what benefits the PlayStation 4 Pro will receive at this point.

I will buy it because Remedy, although I'm not sure I buy it coming out in 2019 because Remedy.

Looks cool. Too bad Microsoft didn't snap up Remedy. Perhaps they made an offer but Remedy wanted to stay independent.

I'm staying on a media blackout for this title, so I won't be checking out anymore videos or whatever, but I will be preordering this the moment I can.

I'm torn between thinking he's super creepy, but kinda hot... I think I'd let him human-centipide me, if I was at the front.

But still... For a game called 'Control' this video is a bit different to the ones they've already shown. You literally only "control" your character in all of the displayed axis in the "arenas"

I agree. With Remedy and generally story driven games, I'm on a total blackout until release.

I don't know why anyone would expect MS to snap up Remedy, they gave them two chances to deliver and their games didn't seem to be hits with the Xbox audience. I know MS seemingly interfered a lot when it came to the tv aspect of QB but still they've invested a lot of money with Remedy and it just didn't work out. It doesn't make either company bad but it also wouldn't have made sense for MS to invest a much larger amount of money to acquire a company when the relationship between the two so far really can't be considered a success.

MS interfered alot? Is there proof of that somewhere?
It's unfortunate that QB didn't do better. It was/is a great game.

Wasn't there an interview with one of the people at Remedy talking about MS pushing them to do things with the television element they didn't want do or something like that? Maybe they just disagreed on certain aspects of it or something.

Frankly, Remedy and Microsoft has been like two peas in a pod since forever, regardless of sales. Remedy are great storytellers and they make great games. It just makes sense.

Not from a business perspective it doesn't, 10 years and 2.5 games none of which likely made money. That doesn't mean anyone did anything wrong it's just that those games didn't click with the Xbox audience in a big enough way to warrant further investment let alone purchasing a company. If they were already an internal studio yeah you keep going and maybe make some changes here and there but buying a studio who's content so far hasn't produced the result you are looking for makes no sense at all.

I started playing QB a couple of weeks ago on GP and couldn't get into it, I hate the actor who plays the main character so I already had a bias against it but it was just boring early on and I couldn't bring myself to play it anymore but that's just me, you liked it a lot and that's great.

I don't think so. Sam lake and Remedy have always been incorporating extended live action bits in their games. I always suspected they had an interest in doing film.
That said, I dont doubt MS thought it would be a good fit for their future services platform at the time, and encouraged the approach they took. A tv show for Alan Wake fits right in with their philosophy.

That's too bad. QB has one of the best time travel stories in any medium, imo.
