Yup. That was believable destruction. Very convincing. This is the kind of stuff that can elevate action games. I know people dont like to hear about the "power of the cloud". But if your smart, you should want Crackdown to succeed with its Cloud implementation.

Probably without Cloud, this would just be Crackdown 3. With Cloud its.........something else.

Wasn't the destruction stuff just MP related?

That means little for Crackdown. Both Crackdown 1 & 2's campaign have multiplayer for 2-4 players so there's no real distinction between campaign and deathmatch. It's just microsofts word for "online only", which they avoided for obvious reasons. IMO the game will be similar to destiny where the rest of the world is populated with other players, Of course if you want to play alone, you'd just go online and set your preferences to "private game"

If they do have an offline mode, it will probably have super paired-down destruction levels. I am very interested to see if they can successfully implement it.

Hmmm.....i guess i did expected a bit more out of this gameplay reveal. Apparently they are also playing it at Xbox Fan Fest there, so they could have shown more of the game if you ask me.

What more could you expect? Honestly? They came though on the cloud implementation. They showed it. It's real! No other console or PC for that matter has done anything like it. Im not following you here...

Was really impressed with what was shown although I do think it was rather short. When MS said they wanted to show these games at Gamescom so they could get the airtime they deserve, I was expecting them to show a good 10-15 minutes.
MS should really hammer home that this game wouldn't be able to run on any other console with that amount of real time destruction. The Xbox One has an image problem because of its perceived lack of power but this is the only game so far this gen that couldn't be played by neither console without the cloud compute.

Well, i quite simply expected a proper gameplay demo to be honest. What we saw of Scalebound for example, that kind of duration i expected to see of Crackdown 3 as well. But instead we got a rather brief gameplay part and most else was behind the scenes. It's better than yet another CG trailer though, that's for damn sure. But that's just about it man, after such a long time of waiting i just expected a proper gameplay demo like we saw from Scalebound and QB.

Ah well.

Agreed. I mean lets face it; right now whats in the back of everyone's mind is how this Cloud thing was achieved, what it means for future games and gamin in general. With just the level of destruction we saw in C3 is HUGE! I think Microsoft will begin to explain more about the Cloud when time permits. As of right now, there are too many people trying to compare C3 with this s***....

I absolutely loved the destruction in Red Faction: Guerilla.

Anyway, i read this on NeoGAF, sounds nice:

''We just asked the devs. The game will be playable without Internet conection and in solo mode but the destruction will only concern smaller things. We saw real gameplay footage in front of us and it really works (with the cloud I mean), it's impressive, without lag. At the end of the demo, the dev told us it was as if there was 7 others Xbox One in the cloud ("Xbox One Compute") thanks to the cloud to do all the destructions things.''

Oh and at Fan Fest they played it....lucky mawfuggas!

Again. This is one of the reasons why I think MS shouldve stuck to their guns. Being always online would've changed things tremendously. C3 is a testament to that.

I don't....get it? You guys didn't like the destruction in RFG?

Partly agreed....but after the several downtimes of Xbox Live this year i cannot agree with it. Always Online would have destroyed this console. Unless they could have guaranteed us 100% stable Xbox Live.

The second half of the Crackdown reveal reminded me of the Azure-Titanfall commercial. I can see MS doing something similar showcasing the game in a similar manner as a example of its broader push in this area.

It was good for its time but it doesnt compare to what we saw today. There are a few saying this type of destruction has been done before on weaker hardware and used RFG as an example. Which is......ridiculous.

Hmmmm i see. Well it has been a long ass time since i played RFG, but after that game there haven't been many other games showing awesome destruction. It's definitely looking great in Crackdown 3 though. This is a 2016 title by the way?

The destruction in RFG was great and highly praised. I wasn't a fan of the game myself although the destruction was great and had a good effect on the gameplay.
The fact C3 is a 2016 game means little. Both consoles wouldn't be able to manage that kind of real time destruction in 2020 simply because the compute power just isn't there. I'd go as far as saying even a top end PC would struggle handling all those hundreds of thousands of debris in real time without dropping into single digit frames.

What pisses me off about the destruction in Red Faction Guerilla (and it's sequel), is that the Physics destruction was amazing.... and no one else seems interested in taking it to another level until now. There was a moment where I thought it was going to be in everything (what with euphoria and that Digital deforming tech seen in that Star Wars game). Took long enough...
