Crypto Currencies / NFT discussion

The whole market crashed pretty hard over the past week or so. I feel bad for those that invested more than they can lose, but they need to hold their coins. The market has done this exact thing the past 4 or 5 years in a row in January.
Bitcoin dropped to just above $10,000 and Ripple dropped to just under $1.00.
Im still up double what I invested. I plan on holding for a few years anyway..

I've only been casually following this, but reading about Bitcoin seeming to implode under fears of being blocked from China or generally Asian markets.

I'm wondering if it would be worth buying into during the 'Panic' lows. I do still think this is full of insane hype and I wouldn't put much into riding the speculation roller coaster. Maybe $50 lol.

At this time I have approx $650 all in. Thats using actual dollar value of the coins I traded in. I used some litecoin, bitcoin, bitcoin cash and ethereum to buy in with and I had made money on them. Im at an average buy in of $.53 per XRP. If I lose it all, I wont cry over it. Anyway, its a good time to buy for sure, but Im not 100% sure the bleeding's done.
Ive been thinking for awhile that bitcoin would collapse under its own weight. Transfer fees and times are just too high. It will collapse completely, or just become a place to park money.

There's like 1,000 crypto currencies.

There's going to be fall out. One of them called BitConnect is basically gone. It dropped like 97% as it was a scam. Somehow it's still around.

If someone is going to gamble with these, stick to the main ones.

This will hopefully weed out the scams..

It's totally r******d how digital currency has taken off. But that's how it goes when $$$ is involved.

Can't wait to see these ratings.

One currency is called Dogecoin based on a dog. Amazingly, it's ranked the 39th highest cap digital currency.

Then there's one called Reddcoin coin whose purpose "is the social currency that enriches people's social lives and makes digital currency easy for the general public."

lol

Bit coin dropping down to $8000.

Its below 7k now. This is no big deal unless you were a foolish investor (of which there are many I'm sure). It will rise (and fall) again. The problem I see with this is how to make a profit off it when its at a peak.

is this a good time to jump in?
I'm not sure. The big ones are way over-priced, but the stock market is going through a big correction drop right now and not sure where the bottom is. It could make crypto bump, or it could drag it down with it.

is this a good time to jump in?

I wouldn't think so. It's going to get lower over the course of the week. And honestly, only get involved with this if you can 1) loose the money invested and 2) have a strategy to get out while it peaks and you've got a decent return.

Swede
Our country is beyond naive when it comes to climate lol
Also, we paid about 1 cent in your $ for plastic grocery bags at stores, now we pay about $1... For one plastic bag... Because the government thinks these bags are bad they put taxes on them, buy paper bags they say
Funny thing is that they only put the taxes on the single bags that the store has at the register, not the bulk bags you can buy from the shelf... Lol Sweden.

*edit to fix autocorrect

In Cali we’re supposed to be paying for bags, seems like enough time has passed that the clerks just don’t charge for them any more

Its amazing how many of you dismiss crypto with your funny memes..Your lack of understanding shows also. That's why you will miss out on the greatest opportunity for building wealth ever seen...
Buy and hold. Even though the market can be volatile, The trend is always up. All of my investments are long term holds and have been in cold storage.
As far as exchanges getting hacked, we have a saying. "Not your keys, not your crypto" Buy and move to a cold wallet. Its impossible to hack them unless you give out your seed phrase. Dont store your seed phrase on a computer. write it down, never taking a pic or better yet, stamp it into a titanium seed plate.
Granted, many coins around right now are designed to move your money from your pocket to someone else's. Invest in coins with a real use case. Do research.
I literally don't know of a single person that has been investing in crypto , long term, that is down right now. Most are looking at profits well into the 1000's of percentage points.
All through the last 4 years I have been investing a few dollars here and there all through the bear market. Dollar cost averaging down the whole time. I quit buying at the end of last year when the market started to heat up again. If my targets aren't met, I will continue to hold for another few years. My initial timeline was to cash out in 2025-26.
Currently I am up about 3000%. If I wanted, I could cash out and pay off my home, car etc. I would still need to work though..All from a few bucks here and there. My largest purchase at one time was $800. I could have bought a cheap used car with my investment..
I have one I hold that I am making about $250/week just holding it. I compound those rewards back in weekly and at the current pace, I could be looking at $1200-$1500/ week in about 3 years time. No risk of loss at all. I allow data providers to use my votes to govern the system. The crypto never leaves my wallet so there is no risk. The vote is detachable.
All govts will be adopting a CBDC (Central Bank Digital Currency) Its already in the works. Already, its possible to transfer billions of dollars across borders in 3-4 seconds for a cost of less than $0.01. It can take days using the legacy system and cost 10's of thousands of dollars, if you can even get it done. You can pack a suitcase full of cash and take it anywhere in the world much faster and cheaper.
The Bahamas has already launched their CBDC, The Sand Dollar
Russia is trial running its CBDC
China is way ahead of the US right now and is going to beat us to the punch
El Salvadore is buying up Bitcoin...
Key words are "Interoperability" ,"Bridge Currency". DYOR and dont let some news scare you. Big players are going to slow things down in some arenas but they cant stop it. Remember that the market is global.
Stay away from meme coins, although they can get you filthy rich fast if you get in at the beginning. Doge coin being the most notable.
NFT's are going to be huge. Makes no sense to me, but they are going to be big for artists/ musicians.

So go ahead, keep making fun of it...

List the cryptos that are secure, not absurdly made up on a whim to siphon money off of dullards. List the absolutely LEGIT cryptos that are able to be used like actual currency when I walk into a store. If there are any like that, I'll look into investing in them.

More and more companies are adapting Bitcoin within the last year. With BTC dip in recent weeks it was a damn good time to get in...probably going to start rising again soon.

Here's a list btw:

Just about any of them can be used in a store if the store accepts them. A store could accept the most scammy of scam tokens out there if they wanted to. Thats not the point though, you are looking at it too narrow minded....Do you go into 7-11 and buy a slurpee with your Ford Stock? No... you cash that stock in and then use the cash.
Soon, you will able to use a phone, or card to instantly change your crypto into cash to pay at registers. It will happen in the background and you wont even notice it happening. A few exchanges already offer this in the form of debit type cards.
If I want to cash out my crypto, Ill have the cash in a couple days. Soon it will be instant
Everything is going to be tokenized. Stocks, bonds, EVERYTHING. Youll be able to actually use your Ford stock at a register to pay once this happens. It would go, Fordcoin to Bridge currency to exchange to USD(or whatever fiat) and finally to the retailers account. This will all happen in 3-4 seconds.
There are plenty of retailers that accept crypto payments, but thats not the way things will be in the end.
Youll be able to travel to any country and your crypto will be exchanged for the local currency without any input from you. It will all happen in the background. Almost instantly.
Like I said, DYOR. Most any of the top 50 coins are safe, but the real jewels are the lower cap coins. Look into ones with a real use case.

Here is an interesting vid on other use cases for Blockchain. Mostly when it comes to the internet.

Blockchain can solve a lot of issues, not just financial ones.
Youll start hearing the Term "Internet of Value" a lot soon also.
This video is deals with content creators and micropayments.
