Kidding, i have some crypto

Whoobooy. Coinmarketcap got hacked. My wallet says i have 10 billion now lol

I understand Crypto and hold some, but for me its too risky to invest in it versus the more traditional route (read safe) of stocks/bonds.

What I really do not understand is NFT. I mean, I get it, but, the cult-like fandom behind it is crazy.

Or maybe I am just mad that I don't own a JPG thats worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. Maybe I am just bitter.

There are cases where NFT's may be cool, like for a collectible card game. Thing abut NFT's right now is that money laundering and friends selling between each other to drive up prices are making it nuts.

Even though crypto is very high risk I actually think Ethereum is fairly low risk. Its the backbone for a lot of crypto and dapps, the EVM is great tech achievement.

A couple charts to put things in perspective. One showing market movement from Mar 2014 till Dec 2018 when this thread was started. Then one from then to now.2014.jpg

It is a bit suspicious sometimes right? RE: Laundering

Look at this person, https://opensea.io/qXX?search[sortBy]=PRICE&search[sortAscending]=false

So many millions of dollars, just sitting there. Who is this person?

No matter what though, one thing is always certain....Crypto Bros will defend, deflect and praise NFTs, Crypto, Elon Musk, etc to the very end.

Blockchain, Crypto, etc all have their utility, I do see a decentralized web 3.0 becoming the future, but this is ripe for misuse.

Ransomware attacks have increased an incredible amount with the introduction of cryptocurrency, money laundering, dark web transactions (silk road), etc.

Kinda gross tbh
Watched a doc about Bob Ross recently. He/his family have absolutely nothing to do with his name. Anything bought with his name on it goes to a scum sucking family that manipulated him into signing over everything very early on in his TV painting career. Everything goes to them.

Sometimes I don't want to live on this planet anymore.

Send me to Mars Elon!

According to messages reviewed by Kotaku, a post announcing Quartz on Ubisoft's internal social media hub, MANA, quickly filled up with questions and concerns from developers across the company. Some didn't understand which old problems the new tech actually solved, while others were worried about receiving mandates to start integrating NFTs (non-fungible tokens, aka hyperlinks to JPEGs) into their own games.

"I still don't really understand the 'problem' being solved here," wrote one employee. "Is it really worth the (extremely) negative publicity this will cause?" Another asked, "How can you look at private property, speculation, artificial scarcity, and egoism, then say 'yes this is good, I want that, let's put it in art?'"

Some developers raised environmental concerns. While Quartz is based on a cryptocurrency, Tezos, that derives its value from proof-of-stake technology rather than an exponentially more energy-intensive proof-of-work algorithm, there's still a lot of debate over the strengths and weaknesses over this alternate form of crypto generation. Others simply felt like the announcement was just a vehicle for meaningless buzzwords and another unnecessary PR disaster for a company whose reputation is already in shamblesfollowing a litany of allegations of sexual misconduct and workplace mistreatment over the last year.

The award jury decided to evaluate the answers - and made the first decisions. The maximum amount of € 50,000 goes to the Evolution Against Humanity project, in which the player is supposed to survive in a post-apocalyptic zombie world. For this purpose, land and unique items are acquired in the form of NFTs, which are traded via blockchain and cryptocurrency. As - so literally - "side effect", money should be made with the NFTs. According to the schedule, a first prototype is planned for the end of June.

To elaborate on my story from 5 years ago:

7 years ago, I spent $90 and bought a tenth of a Bitcoin off Coinbase. I downloaded a program to put it in cold storage, saving the secondary key that would unlock the private key that would allow me to re-access the wallet. 5 years ago, when it was worth $1500, I tried to dig it out. Unfortunately, the program I had used to put the wallet in cold storage had been long-since discontinued. Through a bunch of stupid bulls***, I managed to brute force the password to the private key. Unfortunately, I remembered I had created two wallets in my confusion about how the thing worked and now only had the private key for the empty wallet and not the wallet with my .098BTC. So, my $90 "investment" is now entirely locked away and lost forever because I saved the wrong private key and the correct one was never saved. Of course, that would be worth about $3700 today and the whole time it would've been useless as a currency.
