Remember 38 Studios? The former video game studio headed by baseball legend Curt Schilling is finally going up for auction. The auction will include the unfinished MMO, code-named "Copernicus," and other Intellectual properties, one would assume incudes the Amalur IP itself. The AP reports Richard Land, the receiver for 38 Studios, believes that the IPs have " Significant value" and that multiple parties have expressed interest. The video below shows a brief look into the Copernicus project.

38 Studios was founded by Curt Shilling in 2006. It's only release was the moderately received title Kingdom of Amalur: Reckoning. The title sold 330,000 units within its first month on the market and 1.2 million units in 90 days. It has been reported that the game needed to sell 3 million units to break even.

This is one of those games where I was always waiting for it to hit the bargain bin. I'm surprised EA had such a hard time selling this game as it seemed like a very solid title, but then again I'm so tired of "Reckoning" in game titles that perhaps I wasn't the only one. :tounge:

Enjoyed Reckoning and would like the original team to get another chance with it.

The game didn't look that bad and got ok reviews. Picked it up for $5 recently for pc on sale, but haven't played yet.

Its an interesting story how this all went down. I still think the studio would've made it if their financial situation hadn't been prematurely publicized and politicized. And I feel bad that Schilling pretty much went broke with the studio.

I hope the IPs sell and are given a chance to grow.
