Little dig at Sony? We all know they love a remaster.
Or they just aren't allowed to comment on it being the same for PS5

Why would they dig at Sony? they sold more than twice as many copies of TW3 on PS4 than they did X1 lol they probably want people to buy day one instead of waiting for the next gen consoles to launch so they are letting us know up front if we buy their game it'll get upgraded for free. This should be a standard policy on both platforms for any game that's releasing within 6 months of the new consoles IMO.

Normally I'd be inclined to agree but CDPR *IS* the embodiment of for the gamers. They're the folks behind GOG, which has no DRM as a core principle. If you had asked me before this to pick one third party game that would do this, this would have been it.

Cyberpunk 2077 remains on track for September, CD Projekt says

The coronavirus outbreak has knocked a lot of plans off track: Conferences have been cancelled, hardware has grown more scarce and expensive, and games and updates have been delayed. But one company that's staying the course, for now at least, is CD Projekt, which said in a 2019 overview released today that despite the shift to working from home, the scheduled September release date for Cyberpunk 2077 remains on target.
"There is no shortage of motivation and we also possess all the tools needed to facilitate remote work. We’ve been operating in this mode for over three weeks and to-date results confirm that we can carry on with all our operations without major disruptions," CD Projekt Group president and CEO Adam Kiciński said. "Our plans haven’t changed—we’re steaming towards the September release of Cyberpunk."

It's impossible to say right now how that optimism will hold up. September 17, Cyberpunk 2077's current release date, is still far enough away that an on-schedule release is feasible, but it's impossible to say at this point how the COVID-19 outbreak will progress. If developers are forced to continue working from remote deep into the summer, it could force another delay: In March, for instance, Bethesda delayed the release of the Fallout 76 Wastelanders update because working from home "has affected our ability to do the final testing we need." CD Projekt has a longer run-up to release, but Cyberpunk 2077 is a much larger and more complex endeavor.

CD Projekt also reported that 2019 was a very good year overall, with sales revenues up 44 percent over 2018 to 521 million PLN ($125 million), as The Witcher 3—which is now five years old—somehow continues to kill it.
"We are extremely pleased with the unceasing popularity of The Witcher 3, especially given the fact that the game will be celebrating its 5th anniversary in just a couple of weeks," CD Projekt vice president and CFO Piotr Nielubowicz said. "We continue to reach new fans: in October The Witcher 3 appeared on Nintendo Switch, while Gwent was released on iOS devices. Strong sales of The Witcher and its debut on new hardware platforms contributed to our net earnings and the Group’s net profitability, which increased to 34 percent in the past year."
GOG, CD Projekt's digital storefront, also set a new record, with revenues of 162 million PLN ($39 million) on the year

CD Projekt says the ‘full-blown, next-gen’ Cyberpunk 2077 won’t be a launch game

CD Projekt intends to release a “proper, full-blown next-gen version” of Cyberpunk 2077, it said this week – but it won’t be an Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 launch game.
In February the company confirmed its support for the Xbox Series X cross-buy scheme, Smart Delivery, which lets players buy a game once and play it across multiple Xbox generations.
“Gamers should never be forced to purchase the same game twice or pay for upgrades,” the Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter account said at the time. “Owners of #Cyberpunk2077 for Xbox One will receive the Xbox Series X upgrade for free when available.”
However, speaking during an earnings call this week, CD Projekt SVP of business development Michal Nowakowski suggested that a significantly enhanced version of the game will also be released for next-gen consoles, but that it won’t be a launch title for Xbox Series X and PS5.
During a Q&A session, CD Projekt was asked whether Cyberpunk 2077 “will be immediately available” on the new consoles or if the company will take some time to finish the next-gen version after the hardware launches.
“In terms of Microsoft’s console, like I said, we have officially confirmed both the update and the cross-gen availability, meaning that you’ll be able to play the game from the get-go on the next-gen,” Nowakowski said.

“However, when it comes to a proper, full-blown next-gen version, that’s going to come later, we haven’t announced when and I don’t have a new comment here on that.
“But a patch will be available to everybody who purchases the Xbox One version here and now from the get-go, once that update is live they’ll be able to download that free of charge. That’s the announcement we have officially made and again, I cannot really comment on the policies of the first parties before they officially announce them.”
“There’s no official announcement coming from PlayStation so we really can’t confirm or deny anything,” he added. “It’s PlayStation that first needs to address these issues and then we’re happy to make a comment, but we can’t jump the gun ahead of them.”
During the earnings call, Nowakowski also reiterated that CD Projekt feels “comfortable” it’s on track to hit the game’s September release date.
However, working from home and the closure of recording studios due to the coronavirus pandemic has held up the localisation process, meaning some voice work might have to be added to Cyberpunk 2077 in a launch day patch.
Cyberpunk 2077 DLC and story expansions will be announced before the game’s release, CD Projekt suggested this week. Company president Adam Kiciński also confirmed that the title will have “no less DLC than The Witcher 3 had.”

So, enhanced 2077 won't be available at launch? F*ck you Reject Red.
They want to release a next gen version and sell it at full price. They are a business At end of the day.

nah, cdpr has stated that you’d only need to purchase it once for the Xbox

Oh, my bad. Then they are nice. Kudos for not trying to ask customers to pay twice. At least on Xbox platforms.

In news everyone expected:

Cyberpunk 2077 rating leaks, details “sexual pleasurement”

The first rating for Cyberpunk 2077 has leaked, and you know what this means – it’s time to giggle at extremely clinical descriptions of adult content. We all expected that CD Projekt Red’s next game would get mature ratings, and the studio itself has responded to the leak with a knowing question: “you surprised?
