Proof will be in the pudding.

CDP games are large scope SP games. They are now going to include MP of some kind.

They have stated Cyberpunk will be like Witcher 3.... big SP quality game.

But who knows. Maybe Cyberpunk will be a great large SP game WITH additional quality MP modes. Or maybe, SP gets scaled back and balanced out with MP modes.

Nobody knows yet.

Even if it was scaled back or inferior to Witcher 3 in some way it could never be proven to be the sole cause...as opposed to say the game simply being inferior because it was.

Its not like hiring a dozen guys to build some netcode is going to outright sabotage the single player. But if it helps it sell another 5 million copies or more...well that's why all cellphones have cameras now.

Of course my view is if Red Dead Redemption can have online co op in 2010 why can't Cyber Punk in 2020

Because your views of gaming are skewed. Not everyone cares about multiplayer/co-op and i say that being a big multiplayer fan myself. Single player will always be the focus.

Well then. No one can elicit surprise when dozens of single player only games underperform or go on indefinite hiatus.

It's all about MP, and extra DLC which is often MP focused.

Even SP games you'd think should have no point having MP like Uncharted and God of War get these modes to round out the game and hopefully get some extra downloadable revenue.

I like the fact that it takes place in several different areas across the globe. Hopefully that means there will be lots of visual variety. I hope it's not too heavy on the military-industrial complex stuff, ala Deus Ex; I tend to get bored with those sorts of stories and characters. I do like the inclusion of a variety of guns.

p.s. Also, there's a rumor it will get a detailed reveal at E3:

"Apparently, Cyberpunk will get a trailer at the annual event -- presumably during one of the press conferences -- and a live demo will be shown to members of the press behind closed doors."

Not sure if I like the sound of "low level, quest-based story". What does that mean?

Low level in this context I think means subtle/slow and not distracting you from the world they've built. Pretty much like the main story line in the Witcher 3.

Wasn't a major point of contention with The Witcher III that it had too many distracting side quests?

This is definitely a game that was announced waaay too early...

Watch the E3 trailer for Cyberpunk 2077 — the role-playing game of the dark future from CD PROJEKT RED, creators of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Cyberpunk 2077 is a narrative-driven, open world RPG set in the most vibrant and dangerous metropolis of the future — Night City. You play as V, a hired gun on the rise, who just got their first serious contract. In a world of cyberenhanced street warriors, tech-savvy netrunners and corporate life-hackers, today is your first step to becoming an urban legend.

I am little sad, this trailer did nothing for me. Been looking forward to seeing this game for so long.

Cyberpunk 2077’s secret message confirms: DRM-free, true story-driven RPG, incoming preview

As always, CD Projekt RED has included a hidden message in its latest trailer for Cyberpunk 2077. According to this hidden message, the PC version of the game will be DRM-free, there will be free DLCs and paid expansions similar to those of The Witcher 3, the game won’t have any micro-transactions and there will be previews soon based on the game’s E3 build.
Here is the entire hidden message that you can find if you pause the trailer at the end.
“It’s been over 2077 days since we announced our plan to develop Cyberpunk 2077. We released a CGI trailer, gave some interviews and… went dark. Normal procedure for these kinds of things – you announce a game and then shut up, roll up your sleeves, and go to work. We wanted to give you The Witcher 3 and both expansions first, which is why this period of staying silent was longer than we planned. Sorry for that.
As soon as we concluded work on Blood and Wine we were able to go full speed ahead with CP2077’s pre-production. But we chose to remain silent. Why? At some point, we made a decision to resume talking about the game only when we have something to show. Something meaningful and substantial. This is because we do realise you’ve been (im)patiently waiting for a very long time, and we wouldn’t want anyone to feel that we’re taking this for granted. On the contrary – it gives us a lot of extra motivation. The hype is real, so the sweat and tears need to be real, too :).
But to the point. Today is the day. If you’re seeing this, it means you saw the trailer – our vision of Cyberpunk, an alternative version of the future where America is in pieces, megacorporations control all aspects of civilised life, and gangs rule the rest. And, while this world is full of adrenaline, don’t let the car chases and guns mislead you. Cyberpunk 2077 is a true single player, story-driven RPG. You’ll be able to create your own character and…, well, you’ll get to know the rest from what we show at our booth at E3. Be on the lookout for previews!
Before we finish, you probably have some questions, right?
When? When we told you we would only release the game when it’s ready, we meant it. We’re definitely much, much closer to a release date than we were back then :), but it’s still not the time to confirm anything, so patience is still required. Quality is the only thing that drives us – it’s the beauty of being an independent studio and your own publisher.
How big? Seriously big, but…, to be honest, we have no bloody clue at this point in time. Once we put it all together, we will openly tell you what you can expect. And we promise we’ll do this before we start talking about any pre-orders or ask anything of you.
Free DLC/Expansions/DRM? Expect nothing less than you got with The Witcher 3. As for DRM, CP2077 will be 100% DRM-free on PC.
Microtransactions? In a single player role-playing game? Are you nuts? Once again, thank you for your patience. If you have a minute, do visit cyberpunk.net and share your opinion (about anything) with us. We read everything you post and we treat it very seriously.
Yours, CD PROJEKT RED Team”

I'm sure the game is going to be great but the trailer was underwhelming for me. Too much of a tease that gave us no indication of how it'll play.

Super excited for this game. Graphically looks amazing but I was slightly taken aback by the GTA V vibe I got from the trailer. I was expecting a darker, grittier looking Night City with more verticality. Still remains my most anticipated game though. Can’t wait to hear more

So pumped for this. Couldn't really get into the Witcher as I'm not as big into fantasy type games, but this sci fi looks amazing.

No release date though, right? Probably a long way off sadly.
