I bought this at launch and finally opened it and started playing over the weekend. Not sure if I'll play it much. There's nothing compelling me to continue playing. I'm early in the game still after dropping off some bald weirdo at some tower thing and followed some other guy into some other area to get a motorcycle. It seems like it's always raining or dark. The motorcycles control like crap and it's annoying the hell out of me so far.
It got fun for me when I started encountering the hordes.

I suck at driving motorcycles in most games and I've gotten really good with this one, don't know what's so crap about it, it just takes some getting used to. The story gets better and better and the weather does change, you are still very early. The game has a dynamic day/nigh and weather cycle.
I'll probably keep playing if I can ever get the game updated.
Oh you are playing without the updates? they did update it quite a bit after launch so yeah you aren't getting the best experience, that sucks
Do you also get sick from fps games? I get it from the head bobbing, if there's a slider for it I usually manage but head bobbing is a curse.I had to stop playing pretty early in the game. The need to always find fuel and repairing your bike is one of the dumbest things I've seen in a game in a long time. That's just AWFUL and not fun in any way. Also, the dude mumbling constantly and growling is really annoying. But, the main reason is because it's causing me severe motion sickness while riding the bike in the woods and up and down the mountains and around all of the curves...not good.

As long as they run smoothly and don't have the head bobbing you speak of, they don't really bother me that much. I was playing CoD 2 on my PC last week, and it didn't cause any issues. It just depends on the game.Do you also get sick from fps games? I get it from the head bobbing, if there's a slider for it I usually manage but head bobbing is a curse.
Wow you must be very susceptible to motion sickness, I used to get it from 1st person games but hasn't happened in a while.
Days Gone hasn't given me motion sickness, but some games have on and off. Halo and COD have been an on and off affair for me for motion sickness.I had to stop playing pretty early in the game. Very. I'd probably be hospitalized playing a VR game. I think with this game, the camera is too close to the character as well. God of War also gave me bad issues. The most recent TR isn't too bad, but the previous 2 with the screen wobble causes me significant issues.
I'm having major issues seeing at night, I wonder if needing glasses would cause this stuff... I didn't have these issues in the PS1 days with choppy graphics and framerates.
Ohh yeah, took out my second Horde last night. Those encounters can be a little nerve racking since you have to constantly run and then turn around to fire on the freaks and its easy to get disoriented and lose your way. I really like to plan out my route in the area I’m going to take on a horde. But last night my plan went to sh!t after I messed up and let the horde split into smaller groups that were coming at me from different directions. Luckily the freaks can’t climb or rather are very bad and slow at it which makes escaping easier so long as there’s a ledge to climb up to. Once I got them to chase me on to a roof top it was easy to get them to flow into where I wanted them to go which was right in the path of explosives I had set as traps………kaboom, haha.
Now that I’m taking on Hordes it looks like I’m nearing the end of this adventure. This has been a really fun game but one of the hardest to get into because it starts so slow. I’m not exaggerating when I say this game doesn’t get good until you’re about 15 hrs. into it. That’s just poor pacing in my opinion but there’s a nice pay off if you stick with it. The game does have New Game + so it might be fun to play from the beginning with maxed skills and powerful weaponry.
Agree with you, it's rough going for a long time but once it gets good the hordes are very fun. For the sequel they definitely need to add a "look behind" button for when you're running from the hordes and in general just tighten the whole experience up. After 10+ updates to the game the aiming still feels a bit 'off' to me, maybe thats just the playstation controller, I vastly prefer xbox's for shooters, but it just never felt quite right in the responsiveness to me... Also, make a more intuitive weapon wheel, I hated the way it worked with the directions opening up with additional options thing.... RDR2's weapon wheel was 100x more intuitive...
speaking of easy achievements/ trophies, wtf happen to TDBanks?
Lol
