Dead by Daylight is an indie horror game created and developed by Behaviour Digital Inc. and published by Starbreeze Studios. Dead by Daylight is both an action and survival horror multiplayer game in which one crazed, unstoppable Killer hunts four survivors through a terrifying nightmarish world in a deadly game of cat and mouse. It was released on June 14th, 2016.

  • As a Survivor go in alone or team up with friends to face an unknown threat. Use equipment at hand, unlocked abilities and environmental objects to outwit the monster and escape from its killing ground.
  • Sent in a procedurally generated world, you’ll never know what to expect, what you’re facing and how to get away. You will have to make stressful choices under desperate circumstances. Every decision impacts your chances of survival.
  • Killers come from all horror genres, from brutal slashers to terrifying paranormal entities. Master these monster’s unique powers and exploit the knowledge of your "home" to track, hunt down, break and sacrifice your victims before they get a chance to escape to safety.
  • The asymmetry, procedural factors and unique thinking of human individuals make each Dead by Daylight match an unexpected scenario where the combined behavior of each player creates a truly terrifying and thrilling narrative.
  • Dead by Daylight characters each have a deep progression and unlockables which can be customized into your own personal strategy. Use your experience, skills, and loadout to climb up the competitive ladder and you might eventually discover the truth beyond the fog.

Anyone else play this? It is free to play this weekend if you're interested in it. I've only a couple hours in it but really enjoying it so far.

Dead by daylight Silence hill chapter coming in 3 weeks time

4th year anniversary

What started as a niche novelty pvp concept (They ain't the first to be clear) of 1v4 killer vs survivors inspired by horror film has grown strength to strength, with each chapter adding an original or license killer like Freddy Kreuger, Leatherface.
Its is one of the most twitch games beating big boys like Overwatch in viewership.

On first look, the game looks like a simple hide & seek game with very little depth, which is far from the truth. The skill gap between a top tier player & a noob is massive. There is a leveling system that is multi-tiers, include leveling for each individual killer & players, & there are like 40+ of them, & each one of them has teachable skills called perk that others can use after unlocked. Some consider it grind, but it also adds a lot of replayability. Players clocking in thousands of hours are common. The experience from playing as a killer vs players are also massive, like 2 completely different games. For a start, killer is paly in FP view, while the survivor 3rd person views. Each killer has its own unique power which is game-changing & not simple color/number swap. Survivors are less unique but each has personal perks that can affect how you play.

2 of the major complaints are graphics & animation & according to the 4th-anniversary webcast, will be overhauled next year with the release of new-gen consoles.

Matchmaking which is also much talked about should be much improved when crossplay/cross progress hits sometime in near future.

I play a fair share of MP game recently, & I stop playing overwatch & warzone after the novelty period worn off, but I keep coming back to Dead by daylight ( & Fortnite obviously). Its also one of the few games chill to watch on twitch as well. Often I would play dead by daylight stream in the background as I work from home.

The base game isn't expensive even not on discount. 20€ on stream & I guess similar on the console. Many of the killers/survivors need to be purchased but the price is within expectation, usually 7€ for a chapter which includes a survivor & killer. There is also cosmetics which cost around 10€ which is not cheap but the middle of the park compare to many other games.

It's however not a game for anyone, especially the fade of heart. It can be intense even scary but the fear factor will fade away with enough playtime.
