The patch made some visible improvements, if you additionally turn off film grain and motion blur, it looks even better. Honestly, I prefer the Dead Space remake's graphics to Callisto Protocal's in regards to both style and atmosphere. It's a great looking game.

Not at all

Thanks. Confirms that with good FSR or upscale implementation, gamers won't notice much difference during gameplay.

I managed to reach chapter 6. Should be near the end of the chapter now.

Finally done with the game. 8.9/10. One of the best remakes. Some annoying sections, & some game-ending gitch & saves, thankfully multiple manual save exists. Exploration & puzzles are decent & not overboard. The zero gravity zones are not as fun, & I dread every time there is a zero gravity zone. Thankfully there ain't too many.
I like the levels are connected, & you can return should you wish to. There a bit of backtracking though.

What the game did right.
Manual, & multiple saves, a life saver & take away stress on corrupted files, and game ending gitch which the game have a couple or so. Normally I prefere you can save anything, but in this case, the checkpoint system works well, increase the stake & tension. But the save points are spread pretty generously as not to be annoying, Some selective autosave also helpe reduce the frustration of replaying long sessions.

The Atmosphere is almost as good as it get with current technology. darknes are used well, but not over board. Good horror design know how to selectively adjust the fear. If the monster or darkness is all the time, you will adjust & the fear factor will be gone. Selective use of darkness & jump scare is what make horror, horror, & I think dead space has a nice balance.

There is a bit of predictability though when you know the mobs will come out (usually large area with lots ammo boxes) and after you done some key actions, which can be improved a little. If you ask me, I think amount of mobs encounters should be reduce a little, to heignten the anticipation. Another issue is, near the end, they just throw mobs at you that it turned more like a shooting gallery than suvival horror.

Edit: a slightly longer review

EA throwing shade at Grubb

Though I'm more inclined to believe him over them on this one.

Purely on feeling, I'll side with EA on this. While I'm sure they might have looked at reception for the 1st and might have consider another one; I think just doing a remake of the first was enough. I don't think they have to go the way of Resident Evil and cycle the complete series.

I agree, but the second game was better in terms of.. well, everything. I just finished the remake and was ready to start getting hyped for an announcement for a sequel.
I guess I could just play the original DS2 again, I think it still holds up... there's not that much difference with the remake except graphics tbh and the second game still looks fairly good.
