Death Stranding (Nov. 8)

By changing my mind on preordering. I knew I'd be busy asf leading up to release so I decided not to buy and now I'm seeing decent looks at the gameplay for basically the first time and I'm glad I didn't get it. Dodged a bullet by skipping.

Even my wife was like "yikes" and said the same thing as me when she finally saw what you do for the vast majority of the game.

The setting / actors / scenario was what had me super curious and I just assumed the gameplay was going to be something, uh, good. I like all of his other games at least on that level. I'll probably check it out on a stream or pick it up on the low later.

Edit: sold my old house and bought a new house, that's what had me distracted for the past several months.
Congrats on the new home pravus!

Congratulations on the new house...
I just moved as well.

Post lots of screenshots in my honor, game looks ridiculously good.

This comment from Kojima doesn't sit well....nice f***ing insult.

I must say that the game received rave reviews, especially in Europe and Japan. Here in the United States, however, we have had stronger criticisms. Perhaps it is a difficult game to understand for a certain type of critic and audience. Americans are great fans of first-person shooters and Death Stranding isn't one, it flies higher.

I always try to create new things and disputes and discussions are fine, but it must be said that the Italians or the French have a different artistic sensibility that allows them to appreciate this kind of very original product, not only in video games but also in cinema.

This went from a $19.99 purchase to NO purchase.

Someone's ego is hurt

haha, ok boomer. :D

I've still yet to play the game (should be in my mailbox today or tomorrow), so this is pure conjecture, but from what I've read, it seems Kojima's "flies higher" comment is just a nice PR twist on a new way to say "it's more boring than that"

The old “you just don’t get it” defense. F*** that guy.

Watched some videos the game does look interesting just not fun to play. I give him props at least on trying to do something different.

I love Kojima but it's no stretch to say he is a narcissist.
I really don't know his style much. I have only played MGS4 and the free game that was on Xbox, MG Zero or something like that? I personally liked MGS4 and the active camo was awesome.

I am honestly not sure if I want to get tihs game or not. I keep seeing trophies from friends on my PS dashboard, making me want it.

This month, my number one wishlist release since the dreamcast era is coming, and this kojima masterpiece...
Basically I'll do tedious working activities both at work and while gaming.
UPS and trucklifts here I come, Go Suzuki and Kojima go!

How do you think Americans manage to pull off all the mass shootings? They are totally walking and shooting at the same time. We certainly don't manage to hit gun violence numbers like we do standing around. :)

I love this game. I've been delivering standard packages to level up, get better equipment and get more resources to build the roads while listening to podcasts. Over 20 hours in and still haven't gotten out of chapter three. I think the roads aren't being built by the community for the most part because it requires a lot of materials and for you to stick around the same area in order to help build them up. The roads are crucial because they help you avoid the rough terrain and enemies.

I've been fine watching a stream of it. At times, it's seems something I could get into; just not sure if I'd like it. Again, I'll wait for PC and probably when discounted maybe.

Not very far in at this point, but so far it's literally just been some walking and talking. There is a bit more to the navigation than just pressing forward & jumping, with the balancing and all that, but the game will need to introduce something more to the gameplay soon or I can see myself losing interest shortly, and I think I have a pretty high tolerance for the "slow burn" type of early game stuff. All the ranching in RDR1 didn't bother me at all...

I heard you could just hold in both left and right triggers to walk so you don't have to balance?

Well the triggers are what you use to balance, but holding both isn't always the most effective method. Sometimes you lose balance to one side and just need to hold the opposing trigger to counter it for example. I think though that holding the triggers to balance slowly depletes stamina though so you wouldn't want to do it constantly...

Do the roads break after awhile from the timefall?

Nice! Congrats! I just sold mine a month ago. Downsized from 3000 sqft to two and am saving boatloads of money!

Starting to wish I'd removed this from my queue and held off for SW: Jedi Fallen Order... I don't exactly hate my time with it, but I'd literally enjoy starting RDR2 for like the 8th time again more than walking around in this game....

edit: Update, the game has grown on me a little bit, i'm having a bit more enjoyment, but I'm still so glad I didn't buy it...

I was curious what people here thought about the entire game. A podcast I listen to talked about it recently. It sounded interesting but still had its faults.
