Death Stranding (Nov. 8)

Without really know what this is about or how it will even play, there is definitely something intriguing about it. Don't remember exactly what happened in previous trailers, but for the most recent one I loved the psychological/horror aspect even if it isn't exactly a survival horror. The portions where he has to maneuver using the device to see the shadows/spectres makes it seem like it might have at least a bit of horror to it. The soundtrack definitely helps as well:

Kojima clarified that the game won't be on exhibition or playable at TGS. He's just putting on a show. The Kojima Follies or something.

I just saw a PS4 commercial with Spiderman, Ghosts of Tsushima, and God of War. Death Stranding was absent.

Death Stranding PS5 launch title confirmed?

Most people seem to be saying 2020, so that would fit.

Death Stranding will probably be a cross gen game in the sense that it'll launch on PS4 with an upgrade patch for PS5 owners, I think that several of the big name games like God of War, Spider-Man, Days Gone, TLOU2 and GoT will get upgrade patches in some way that make them take advantage of the console sort of giving the illusion of a deeper launch line up. Obviously you don't spend a ton of money on a launch games these days, the console will sell regardless because the hardcore are always there right away for the first year, it's basically the 2nd holiday and beyond where the 1st party stuff really starts to come into play, plus why release a game that can cost hundreds of millions to make when the installed base is smallest? That of course is based on the assumption that it'll be backwards compatible with PS4 games and launch in 2019, if it launches in 2020 maybe God of War, Days Gone and Spider-Man are left untouched and only games that launch within a year of the console get any kind of upgrade.

Only thing I didn't love there was the voice acting/dialogue. Didn't seem to fit with the tone of everything else we've seen.

Apparently we have an update from Kojima himself on the release date...

When asked about the release date, Kojima said: “The release date for Death Stranding hasn’t changed… yet. Please wait a bit more for it. Thanks.”

The only other time he referred to a release date was when he said it would come out before the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics which take place in July of that year.

I know from the closing ceremony of Rio that it was very heavy on Nintendo, but you're comment about the Olympics gives me a crazy thought of Sony either announcing or releasing the PS5 during the Olympics.

Still don't get it, can't get hyped by something I don't understand.

Sure there's a possibility to be disappointed, but I find the oddity and intrigue part of the allure towards this game. Personally most announcements or trailers for upcoming games follow the same script all the time so I see a trailer and go cool, then promptly forget about the game until about a week before release. But this, I have no clue what is going on so it keeps me thinking about it and coming back when they trickle out little bits like this.

Yeah, I like the air of mystery around the game. I wouldn't say I'm hyped, though. More like mildly interested.

It's 2 years away, so there's plenty of time for him to get more specific about gameplay. For now, I can see the advantage of keeping it mysterious.

From what we saw so far,he has 2 choices for this encounter...drop the backpack and run like hell ;)

Weird game is weird but I like it...I think lol

No you see he..... has this weird.... uh..... magic charged..... uh..... toilet paper dispenser......

Yeah he's gonna TP these mofos.

Alanah Pierce (ex IGN) just said on the DLC podcast that she visited Kojimas studio and saw QandA testers from Sony working on the game. She said this is relavent because QA doesn't come in until closer to the end of development and this could mean a 2019 release is more likely than most believe.

It's a Kojima game. That is the hype. I truly feel sorry for those who don't understand his greatness. Like for real. Look at the guy's track record.

Yeah like MGSV that was one of the most overrated games I've ever played lol, people can blame Konami for that all they want but there was no reason for that game to be open world if they weren't going to actually do something in that world. It looked nice and ran fine but damn the missions were s*** and you just did the same exact thing over and over again.

Wasn't his best effort but ya i'll put that on Konami at the end of the day. Why the f*** would you kick your lead developer out in the middle of a project? Okay, thanks.. we'll take it from here. Now you see how that works out with the PoS Metal Gear Survive game.

Silent Hills was going to be the horror game of a lifetime. For me, Death Stranding retains some of that weirdness and mystery so i'm pumped for it. In an age where people complain that every game is alike, this game seems to be far from the norm.

Sounding more and more like this is a 2019 game. Looks like it'll have a big presence at TGA on Thursday.
