I loved OP/F CWC. I used to like making big night battles in the editor, launching it and then firing coloured flares during the battle.

You just gave me an idea Yossarian. There is this SLX mod, that I haven't used for awhile, that has the AI shoot flares at night. Yeah, totally agree, flares are awesome in night battles. :)

I used to play it a lot. I loved messing with the editor.

Now, I play Arma III. The graphics in this series have improved so much, it's hard to go back to the old ones.

Yeah, I've been thinking about getting this game soon. I hear though that it has frame rate issues. Is that true? I have an i5 2500k @ 4.5 Ghz and a HD 7850 OCed to 1 Ghz. Dunno if that's enough.

You could run it ok. Turn down the draw distance and AA and you'll be fine. My buddy plays arma 3 on a e8400 stock and reference gtx 460 with 4 gb of ram at around 30-40fps without the bells and whistles and low draw distance. Arma 3 with everything off is still loads better than arma 2 maxed.

I had the game running at close to 60fps at acceptable graphics detail. I didn't turn up "every" setting to max since some made little difference and had too strong of an impact on framerate.

I have an i5 3550 @ 3.30ghz (though it says 3.7 beside it for some reason), EVGA gtx 680 superclocked edition, 8 gigs ram, etc.

I mostly played the beta. I still need to check out the full one some more since it auto upgraded me to full version when it came out.

I will say that your framerate will vary. Sometimes it runs silky smooth, other times it goes wild. It's mostly smooth though. I'm also using a mid-range texture mod though.

I'm sure there's more on there that'd be useful to read.

That's good to know. Thanks Lucid Rifter :)

Thanks for the information Godsmack. If it runs well on a 3.3 Ghz then I should be okay then. Greatly appreciate :)

@Godsmack The 3.7 Ghz next to the 3.3 means that's what your CPU runs in "turbo mode". Basically the CPU downclocks to 3.3 when not under load. So when gaming your CPU is actually running at 3.7 Ghz. This is to save power consumption and runs seamlessly in the background.
