I think the model may work well. I'm cautiously optimistic. There's a whole ton of casual players who don't raid who can try the game and see. I think the campaigns are worth playing for free at least, and if people get into it they can dig deeper. Hopefully it bumps up the PVP populations, which is one of the bigger problems.

It sounds like they may be fixing some of the underlying flaws in the game - no loot. The idea of playing seasons for a couple pieces of gear got old in a hurry. They need to make a loot game where it is fun and rewarding to play, and doesn't feel like a chore.

Best way describe the game is 'shallow' it has no depth anywhere.

IMO they need to completely seperate PvE and PvP, then do a borderlands procedurally created loot system and have each activity set to different settings to provide unique looking gear per activity, but hand craft the stats and talents for PvP.

Things like instances need to be proceedurally generated...as do other open world activities.

Supers need to be RPG like with many options but limited unloks points. This creates theory crafting, individuality, and far more options for gamers to play with.

Imagine not having seasons but limited time events with essentially unlimited loot and once the event ends that themed loot wikl never be obtainable again, which leads to far more diverse and unique looks and loadouts.

They need to completely re-do the perk system. There's perks that either increase damage or improve reload speed (which essentially improves damage over time) and then there's a bunch of perks you never want. I'm a casual and that's too shallow for even me.

Have the base game on PC but never got to the expansions. My understanding is that the Osiris and Warmind stuff will be free but then the full DLC won't be. Hopefully a deal on the first DLC at least once it moves to Steam.

I just have no urge to get the new stuff this season. I would go out and spend hours just to say I got it and then stop.

I've been catching up on the Black Armory since I started playing again. Still haven't run the Menagerie yet, but will try it this week. If anyone wants to run I'm on PS4, will be on PC too when we get cross saves

"The total daily population for June 16 sits at 1.01 million, with 963,000 players in PvE, 472,000 in Crucible, 319,000 in Gambit, and 139,000 raiding. (Obviously, some players are hopping into multiple activity types.) The data comes from the Charlemagne bot (via Pyro Gaming) and is pretty consistent over the past week – though naturally, the weekends are slightly more populous than weekdays.

More broadly, we know that Destiny encompassed around six million monthly active users by the end of 2018 – just before Bungie bought back the rights to the series and split with Activision. The publisher reported in recent financial results a loss of 12 million monthly active users over the previous quarter, and “around half” of that number is accounted for by the loss of the series."

Alive and well

I won a Forsaken Season 2 passlittle over a week ago but did nothing with it. Think I might reinstall and see how things are. I stopped playing after a month of forsaken so it has been a while...think i'm only like 360/70 light.

Nice to see they are going deeper into the RPG aspects.

I am having fun with the game again.

I am still so lost on this game trying to progress. :(
I'll be back on it tomorrow. What are you trying to progress through? Maybe i'll be able to help you as I also get reaquinted...i'll likely be at Black Armoury DLC to begin with.

I am gone until Sunday afternoon. I could see if you are on then?

I’ve been thinking about this game lately since Division 2 hasn’t released any new content beyond the new Specialization. I quit before Forsaken came out but I’ve read about how the game is in a really good place right now. I just wonder if there is enough PvE content to keep me from having to jump through LFG crap to Raid. Ohh wait, didn’t Bungie include some kind of option to Raid? I think its called guided games or some such, I’ll have to investigate.

There technically are guided games, but they really don't work all that well. People rarely use them, so it takes an eternity to find a game. You're much better off using external sites. Guided games are so broken they essentially don't work. I remember waiting a half hour for a nightfall (just 2 more people) and giving up as it never found anyone.

I sometimes find myself turning on music and grinding escalation protocol. Still think it's one of the most fun activities in the game.

The Hammerhead machine gun is worth getting in Black Armory. The problem with the Armory is that the activity isn't very fun, which makes it annoying to grind.

Seems fine to me...not really all that different than most of the content in the game.
