I knew it would happen but its still annoying. Glad I didnt take off work early.

I assume the servers are getting slammed. Started just as I got home from work, which is probably about the same time the entire east coast did the same.

I'm in a queue now. I'm hoping I can play tomorrow as I have the rest of the week off.

I'm in now! Got past some error messages and got in.

I almost dismantled the blues that started dropping, then I remembered they were higher level now!

Another PSA: Spider is selling Legendary shards for byron bough or whatever (that junk from the Dreaming City). You probably have stacks of it sitting around, may as well use it for shards.

I'm afraid to jump into the campaign as I keep getting errors.

So, what do people think of the DLC?

I have to admit, I have two major complaints so far:

-Just straight up recycled D1 content
-Lack of new loot

There's a fine line between nostalgia and simply copying content. These are basically D1 missions and strikes, down to the exact room.

My other problem is the loot. I have yet to receive one new piece of gear other than a pre-order Exotic. Everything is just old content. The weapons and armor are exactly the same except for the armor changes. I feel like all I'm doing is gathering resources to get my old gear from 750 to 950+.

The good:

I don't mean to be all negative. The artifact seems neat. I do like how you unlock things with XP for the seasons. Instead of RNG when you level up giving you a bright engram, you can see what you get next. I must admit it is very addictive. One more level and I get a new finisher. You can just do any bounties and even get unlimited random bounties, so no more "you don't have anything more to do today". If you want to grind like crazy on a Saturday and not on a Monday, it works.

Overall though I'm kind of disappointed. I just don't see myself playing this much once I finish the campaign. Maybe more unlocks along the way (they do like to drip feed content).

I didn’t know you could get D2 for free on XBox. I installed it, is the base game worth my time? Or is the game useless without all the DLC?

Yes and no. They give you most of the early campaigns, so you can play a lot of the "single player" (it is always online but you can mostly solo that stuff if you want). Long term, the game is a loot grind, and you'll quickly hit a wall where you'll want the newer loot.

There's still lots of hours of campaign to play through for free. I would say it is worth checking out. You can get a bunch of hours of free play and see if you want to go deeper or not. The campaigns themselves are pretty fun. The story itself is sort of buried, but Bungie always nails the shooting mechanics, especially on console.

I like the changes they have made but the campaign for the expansion is kind of a joke. Its over before you know it. I actually couldnt believe it.

When I’m ready for a new game I might give the campaign a spin. I enjoyed what I played of the campaign in D1.

And the transmog system is a joke, can only transmog armor into Eververse gear. So stupid. You should be able to change your armor to any look.

And man they really nerfed the time it takes to get your super back. Im definitely going to go for a lot of intellect gear.

Yeah, I still have no idea what armor is good so far. What should I upgrade or what should I dismantle? I assume you want the base number to be higher before it is upgraded, but everything seems to have the same junk stats.

Not sure though as I just hit 900.

I may have been a little quick to not like the expansion. A lot more opens up as you hit 900+. The Vex Offensive is a lot of fun so far. Not as good as Menagerie but pretty good.

The XP to level up your season increases pretty dramatically though. The first 10 levels fly by, but double digits seem to slow way down. It feels like a lot longer slog than I originally thought.

After some time with the crucible on PC I cant believe how OP The Recluse is. Its still the best gun in the game even after being nerfed.

In the hands of even a decent player its a monster.

Yeah, pvp hasn't changed at all as far as I can tell. I'm using the same loadout as before. Pulse rifle and Erentil. I tried a scout rifle but it was still not good.

Played this a bit last night. I don't think I ever played it beyond the base game, so it is pretty fresh for me. Friend and I ended up making a new character though since it had been so long, plus we have another just starting out. I see they have legacy quests for the base game as well as the first two DLCs which is good. I was a little confused with the start of the game being Destiny 1 lol.

For those that have Forsaken, is it worth the money? I imagine playing base game and the two DLCs will keep me busy for a while, but I'm wondering if buying Forsaken now would give me any new weapons than if I didn't buy it. I see they added bows. Are they available without buying Forsaken?

I think buying Forsaken will give you more loot, but I'm not sure how much. Unfortunately their system gets a little confusing. I think you get the last season pass content for free with Forsaken so I would say it is well worth it. Forsaken was a fun campaign.

Do you need Forsaken to get bows? If I know the gear icons it looks like I'm getting Forsaken guns but wasn't sure if that might include bows. I see you can get one through the forge but I talked to her and don't have a quest.

I'm kind of liking Scout rifles again in PVE. They aren't the best option but I feel like they are decent now.

Been using Imperative, the Vex Offensive one and it's nice.

Yeah they are definitely improved. I really like the rapid fire ones like the Night Watch (from Reckoning). I have one with Outlaw/Rampage which shreds. With the right perks they feel really good. Triple tap is good.

I was hoping high impact with explosive rounds would be good, but it still feels kind of weak.

I still seem to get better damage numbers from pulse rifles across the board though which is kind of annoying, but at least scouts are closer.

In case anyone doesn't know, after doing a public event on the Moon, the Vex gates will open after about one minute. Sometimes after killing all the Gate Lords a Hydra boss will spawn. You can get powerful loot twice a week from killing him.

Ive got a pretty nice grenade build going with my warlock using Nezarec's Sin. Maxed out discipline combined with Devour and Demolitionist on my SMG and I basically have no cooldown time on my grenades.

Seems like people could make some really nice builds after some time.

Ended up buying Forsaken just so I could do some of the exotic bows and what not. Off topic of that, is there a way to do private strikes? Really hate playing with randoms that just speedrun through them all the time. Me and a friend just trying to enjoy the damn killing everything and third person is on his speeder racing to get to the next section unlock spot. Why even bother playing the damn game.
