Publisher Electronic Arts announced that DICE is halting development of all future projects and expansions until it sorts out issues currently affecting the PC and console versions of Battlefield 4.

"We know we still have a ways to go with fixing the game,” an EA spokesperson told PC Gamer in a statement. “It is absolutely our #1 priority. The team at DICE is working non-stop to update the game." The spokesperson also asserted a commitment to fix player issues. "We know many of our players are frustrated, and we feel your pain. We will not stop until this is right.

Maybe instead of doing this EA should have given DICE the three more months they asked for to begin with to put BF4 out. They are the ones that rushed it through quality testing. This is pretty much EA covering their own asses now.

EA is really earning that worst company title they have. Until the publisher can get their s*** together, I see no good reason for gamers to buy a DICE game at launch. It's better to scoop it up 3-6 months after release.

Agreed. Game is broken and they made too many changes to be released 1 year after BF3. EA is to blame yet again.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That need to fix their broken game before moving on.
True it should be fixed, but IMO Battlefront 3 will make Battlefield irrelevant.

Doubt it.

And if they can't be bothered to fix BF4, Battlefront will also be a mess, and everyone will feel burned by DICE.

Fixing BF4 is the smart thing to do right now.

That's why I said IMO. Battlefield games don't do anything for me really.

But we all know that whether or not DICE fixes these problems in one game usually doesn't guarantee they'll be fixed in another game. So I'm fully expecting Battlefront to have these same issues even if BF4 is fixed before it.

While I would love a new Battlefront, I can't be fvcked with having DICE put aside fixing a game that I'm enjoying now, for a game that lord knows when it'll come out.

As much as it kills me to say this, bf4 is the last battlefield I'm buying at launch. Glad to see they're not working on anything else, but its should have never been this bad to begin with.

Publisher pressure always kills games. If it's not EA, Activision or MSFT, it's some publisher trying to push a game out the door to meet a sales goal....quality of the game suffers as a result of it.

EA rushed out another Dice game? They've been doing this since BF1942 sadly.

They have to fix BF4. BF4 is bad even by their standards, which are pretty low. I mean, it took me 2 days to figure out how to download the DLC I paid for.

I really wish the good studios like DICE, Bungie, Epic Games, etc, could just self-publish their games. I think we would see much higher quality games out of them. The publisher is 99% of the time at fault for a game's poor quality, but from a business perspective, the publisher will blame the studio for bad sales and shut them down in a whim instead of taking the blame themselves.

Yeah, plus it seems EAs servers always are a big part of the problem. I rarely have serious problems with online games, but EA games always seem to have long outages, disconnects, etc.

This is fuking awesome...bf4 is by far the best MP game out there but it wants to punch you in the face every other match.

I think I kind-of expect some growing pains with a DICE game anyways. They seem to repeat all the same bugs from title to title even though they fix them in previous titles, it blows my mind. Then you always have EA's servers as the backbone of half the bullsh*t. Regardless, the only title I EVER support from EA as a publisher is Battlefield. I won't buy any of their other titles. I haven't ever for the most part. I pretty much boycotted them after they did that Madden deal when NFL2k5 was my favorite football game. They also went in bed with Sony & wouldn't support Dreamcast at all, which helped it fail. I do enjoy DICE's games though, I will get Battlefield sequels as long as they don't go "too Call of Duty" in the future & continue to do their own thing. I will probably pick up Battlefront too if it's polished to some degree. (Plants vs. Zombies I might get) Other than that, F*CK EA. They have treated me like crap in Customer Support too over my BF3 server multiple times.

DICE as a company does care though & they are pretty decent at listening to customer feedback & changing things or working on things, so kudos to them.

I'm glad they are doing this. BF4 is great, when it works. It's frustrating as hell when you are trying to party up and you can't join your friends server, or get dropped/crashed.

Agreed on this. While I can't stand that they ship out a buggy game, no one can accuse them of not working their arses off. The game as a whole is also so much more than other games that this many issues are expected.
But yeah, they listen, and are constantly providing updates, patches, etc. Not many developers continue to support a game the way DICE does after release.
