I completely forgot I had a couple old cassette tape mix tapes as MP3's. These were done live in the early part of the night where crowd controlling isn't really a concern. When it's crowded, and it's the middle of the night, your main concern is working the crowd and not experimenting and playing what you want to hear. Listening to them really makes me want to get another set of turntables. I think I will very soon. I really miss it and I still have hundreds and hundreds of vinyl records still. These are filled with a ton of live blends, classics, white labels and some mainstream songs.

They start at various spots because they were automatically tagged by YouTube so just rewind them to the beginning.

Almost done listening to the first Hip Hop house mix. You are way better than I expected.

Very sharp, clean, and on point with your transitions. I honestly expected some sloppy mix.

When mixing house music, keeping the rhythm, and having tight mixes, is imperative. Nothing is a crowd killer than poor blending. I took pride in that. There are errors and mismixes in all of them, some drive me nuts, but you've got to be able to save them instantly or it will sound really bad. There's one mistake where one record sped up for some reason without changing the slider. I miss is a great deal and have decided when I'm done with some house renovations I'm going to buy another set of turntables. I still have most of my vinyl and there's no reason for it to just sit there. It was a such a big part of my life that it's time to revisit it.

I have a few blends as MP3s that I can put up. I'll get them up too.

Gotta have house, music, all night long.

You photograph AND spin house music. Nice.

Always wanted a set of 1200's, etc..but never got a chance to pick two up and a mixer. Still have one 1200 but all my records(mostly mainstream music) are in storage. Did you get vinyl at Gramaphone or other record shops?

Used to listen and tape the first house mixes which were broadcast on WBMX FM in Chicago. Funny to hear how primitive they sound now. The first track is the first song I remember that references the word house being played on the radio in 1985.

Nice. I'll have to give them listen at work tomorrow. House wouldn't really be my thing. Was more in techno and electro. Used to DJ professionally for about 5 years.

I hear you man and you did pretty well because if there were mistakes you did a pretty good job at fixing them right away. Mistakes happen though. I've seen a few Jazzy Jazz mixes on youtube and he makes some here and there if you pay close attention and he is a legend.

The key is to fix them asap before the listeners catch up to them. I was about to ask you if you have any hip hop mixes but I think you've answered that already indirectly unless I am wrong. I love the art of DJ'n. There's so much creativity there from mixes to editing to unique styles kinda like speaking a whole new language called music. The more diverse the style the better lol.

The tapes I put up are decent but that doesn't stop me from rolling my eyes when I hear a mistake.

I'll post some blends I did tomorrow. I don't have that many on MP3 as I didn't record many. I wasn't that into recording blends and I would only do it if the blend made sense and worked perfect or nearly perfect.
