**doom theme begins to play**
Less than a month now though yeah? The wait for this game is waaay too long!

I never spent much time with Doom 1-2, but really enjoyed 3 and agree that game took the atmosphere and creepiness to the next level, whereas 2016 is more in your face frantic action. I wouldn't mind a spin-off where you play as a more generic marine like the 3rd game (I think) where it's more like Alien Isolation or something. As insane (in a good way) that this games looks. Do you think it’s straying too far from the originals?
Im playing Doom 1-3 and they had a lot of atmosphere and creepiness. The new Dooms as awesome as they are are nonstop mayhem.
Doom sort of feels like they took a look at Quake in terms of darkness and intensity of game play. I think in the last run before 2016 they were a little to dark visually.
Now in Eternal things have some brighter stages and graphics, but I think the direction is to have a lot of contrast between dark and light or Hell with some Heaven while also filling in some Lore to the game and Doom Slayer.
I ended up finishing Doom 2016 last night. Ready for Eternal!
I think this is a good direction for the series. In my opinion, this is more closer in spirit in how the games should be played, and Doom 3 is the one the venture pretty far from the source material. Going a more horror route. It's still a fine game in it's own right, but it lacks the action and intensity of the first two. Doom Eternal is definitely about showcasing that intense gameplay and innovating upon it. I think there are still a splash of horror elements there, but I most fans were yearning for a more fast paced style. Plus, to be quite frank, you can only go back to hell and Mars so many times. As insane (in a good way) that this games looks. Do you think it’s straying too far from the originals?

I had no interest in another doom if it was going to be another game where all we see is orange sky and the insides of bases, the fact that this game looks so much more colorful and varied is a positive thing IMO.
