The main issue is not price. They can always charge slightly more for the physical version of the game & I bet most people will be fine.
The scam is that they are NOT selling you a product while charging you the price of a product.
Me, & I bet most people are fine if something is digital, if you own this digital (like a movie you download into your PC). Technology is already available (like ones used in NFT) that can prevent people making multiple copies of ditial product. They simply do NOT want you to have the ability to sell/loan/trade the "product" they sell.
The trick they used is calling games/software "service", all while not conforming to the general regulations applying to services, like termination/ban/not provide service as advertise (missing game mode like coop for instance) without compensation.
If I rent a car for 5 days, but the car broke down last 2 days. The rental company need to compensation the cost for the last 2 days. If I buy a car and pay extra for 360 parking camera, If it doesn't come with it, I have the right to accept some form of $ compensation, reject the car, get a replacement.
