Of course. This is to save you time when the PS4 launches. You can update the console instead of waiting for the PS4 to download and install.

You can update the console from a USB stick, just like you can with the PS3.
 
I'm very glad it can be updated this way, but I'll wait to download it closer to launch in case they change it between now and then or something.

I will update if there is a new update to download. But I doubt they would release another update within the next 17 days. You never know though.
 
Even though I have a fast connection, I'll nab these now to avoid the launch rush.

Definitely seems legit but I'm personally going to wait, Sony could be testing some s*** out and that might not be the real deal.
 
I don't see the point downloading it now.If you guys have superfast internet speeds in the us!

We aussies only have a 116mb down speed,upload 2mb
 
Well this is good news for anyone concerned about the state of PS4's OS. They seem to be on top of things based on this.

I am sure you will need to make a folder for it. Maybe something like, PS4>UPDATE

You will need to put the PS4 in safe mode to install the update via usb stick.
