Driveclub: PS4's next gen racer

Looks good but the hands look like creepy manikin hands, should wear gloves.
Ya, should have glove. Also, racing game is a genre where you can immerse yourself as the driver, but the pale looking hand, break that immersion for many people with darker tone.

Anyway, not a big deal. I at least see there are effort to make the environment more interesting, & in more variety of places, instead of another generic US landscape.

Release date will be announced shortly!

PS4 racing fans shouldn't have to wait too long to find out the DriveClub release date.

"The team at Evolution Studios are working hard to bring Driveclub, a truly next gen driving experience to PS4 and we will announce the release date shortly," a Sony representative told IGN. "We're really excited about how Driveclub is progressing and thank you for your patience."

The statement was released after it was revealed that the racing sim hadsuffered a delay in Japan, where it had been due to be a PS4 launch title on February 22.

DriveClub was originally planned to be a PS4 launch game in the west too. However, in October the project, which is in development at UK based MotorStorm developer Evolution Studios, was officially delayeduntil "early 2014".

At the time of the original delay, Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida stated: "DriveClub will be a truly innovative, socially connected racing game, but the team requires more time in order to deliver on their vision - and I'm fully confident the game will surpass your expectations."

This is a game that I am greatly anticipating. This is also a game that is a complete wild card. I expect Evolution will release a game of the quality they are known for. I also hope we will get a chance to play this racer soon. Problem is, what I expect and hope aren't guaranteed to happen. Truth is we haven't been shown enough of the game to have any real sense of how good this game will actually play, or when we might be able to play it.

It's Evolution though with a smattering of Bizarre Creations, can't go wrong really.

Are we still going to get a nearly full version of the game free, Amazon has the full version listed for $59.99. I can't recall what was going to be the difference between the 2 versions.

The difference was going to be content. So you would have had all races/Modes, but the content would be minimal. There was no specific Content details given.

I am getting a Project Gotham vibe with this.

Based on what I have seen. I think you're crazy. Seems nothing like PGR to me. If anything this game reminds me of the NFS:Shift series. Mainly cause it doesn't seem to really know what it wants to be. Sometimes it look Sim like, other times arcade like. Historically these tend to turn out rather crappy, but until you actually play it first hand, it is impossible to really judge.

Darn man relax! Until you play it 1st hand you can't say I'm wrong either!
I am saying I am getting a PGR VIBE...it might turn out totally different but from whats shown...it gives off a PGR vibe to ME.
If it actually turns out like PGR....are you going to be okay?

WOW...you got your knickers in twist over that, pathetic.

I think this game will be its own thing, a mix of other racers of sorts, but to me it needs to be 60fps locked, not dropping down to 40-50fps. After playing Forza 5 I can not image a racer at 30fps, i can struggle through fps games maybe at 30fps, but not racers.

Free to play worries me. Not sure how it will turn out to be. We still don't have any directfeed video of this.

Like Vallience said, This is not an orthodox F2P game. It is an orthodox console game, but Sony has made a F2P version to help promote PS+ in the early stages of the generation. So any fears due to F2P are redundant.

Is there going to be a disc version sold at game stores or it downloaded only? This game is gonna be my deciding factor in buyin a ps4 sooner than later

Anybody know how many cars are gonna be featured in the name? Is there gonna be any old school muscle cars in it?

I wouldn't expect thePS+ version to be too significant. Probably just a few cars and tracks. I actually wouldn't be shocked if their whole business model has changed at this point after the delay and seeing the backlash to Forza's pay to pay to play strategy.

You don't have to pay for anything in Forza to play any of the game or access any of the cars. You do however, have to pay for DLC and VIP access.

The fact that you have to pay real cash for a car even after you have earned the in-game cash to buy it is lame.

Good thing Forza hasn't had that and doesn't have that. The only issue with Forza 5, which was addressed, is that the in game credit pricing of the cars was way high, and the credits earned were slower, making it a grind to get a car. This encouraged people that have no self control to spend real world money to buy a car. At no time do you have to pay real cash for a car after you earned the in-game cash to buy it.

buy car packs to unlock all the decent cars. Unless that has changed.

Are you talking about DLC? Of course you have to pay for DLC. The game comes with about 200 cars, all of which you can earn in game and use, and not spend a dime of real money. If you want the optional DLC cars (which are over and above what comes with the retail game), then of course you will use real money and in game credits.
