Modern phones are able to process photos to make them look nicer with dynamic range and depth of field. This has helped normies understand how those aspects make a photo look nice. However, phones don't teach normies about composition.Well, the trend is people using modern small devices. It's easier to take pictures without understanding things like F-stops or ISO settings. Then with all the apps, you kind of have a studio in a box.
It becomes a hard surreal challenge for the old school people with studio lighting and tons of backgrounds and light meters. Arguably, the old schoolers really do have the most skill and understand the camera better in a technical sense, but customer doesn't get that; they just know they're friend or cousin is an 'enthusiast' that can do it for cheap or free.
